Lavoy,
I just sent you a pm with the contact info. If you don't get it soon, let me know. I still have a pm in my outbox from 2006  so I'm not sure how good the system works. Good luck.

Lavoy, If you had to guess at current demand for these track pins, how many would you need for 420's, 440's, etc. Are there any sized pins that cross model lines? The reason I ask is I was in a machine shop today and was talking about the scarcity of parts for these older crawlers. This shop has jus...

Paul, Along the lines of what Jim was saying, have you checked your clutch and brake pedals to ensure they're both moving full travel independant of each other? When I got my 440 the dual shaft which both pedals use was so gummed up inside, when you hit the brake the clutch pedal would go down also....

Pat, You're going to love that 14. Although I preferred shooting the garand over the M16 on our base team, I ordered some 14's for our team to shoot 600 yrd matches. We literally received them two days before a 600 yrd match so we took them down, clean the gas systems, checked headspace and fire a f...

Thanks for the feedback guys. JD, you really put things in prospective with that little history lesson. I'm going to bring the remains of the parts trans into the garage and take it down to see what it looks like inside. Hopefully there's no serious damage and a rebuild is in order. It'll definitely...

M1A's and Garands match

Lavoy, If you have some enough aces to get a 1000 yrd range out there maybe you could organize a biathalon of sorts but instead of skiing to the targets you have to be moving on your crawler. Then again, maybe we should rethink the moving part. It could rival the Rattle Battle(the rattle part would ...

Lavoy, I hear what you're saying about poor operators. Much of the work I've had to do is because of the "run it into the ground" mentality of the previous two owners. I was just curious with all things being equally maintained, did the reverser drivetrains exhibit more trouble/hassle than their non...

Install reverser or not - 440ICD dozer

I've read a lot of post on guys having problems with reversers and am wondering if they actually make for a weaker drivetrain in a dozer. I picked up a parts machine a while back which has, what appears to be, a good reverser in it. I'm wondering if rebuilding it and installing it in my 440 will be ...

6 way blade from a 350 to a 440

Does anyone know if a 6 way dozer blade from a 350 will bolt up to a 440 frame? Thx.

Beautiful job Dave. Do you have any implements for it? I would have a hard time driving something that clean into the dirt. But I guess that's what they're intended for. Thanks for the pic. It gives all of us hope with our respective projects.

Y-block valve seals

This one goes out to older mechanics or at least someone who's worked on older engines. I picked up seals for my 62 292 and when you put them on the valve stem, they don't grab the embossing at the valve guide. Is this how they're intended to work? This is my first Y-block and it's different than th...

At this point, I'm wondering if I should just leave it alone and go ahead with replacing the clutch discs. The only reason for removing was going to be cleaning the backside of the final case.

Belly grader for 1959 Case 310B

Has anyone ever heard/seen the belly grader option on a Case 310B? I picked up this backhoe and was told the extra set of valves was for a belly grader option. I went to the YT tractor site to see if anyone knew anything about the belly graders offered on the 310's but no one ever heard of that opti...

440 steering clutch drum stuck

Is the steering clutch drum a press fit onto the splined hub? I've tried heating it carefully and tapping around the top of the splined hub with pry bars under the drum edge to apply pressure but no luck. How much force is needed to get the drum off? Anyone else have this problem? Thanks.
