On the older machines, the manual is a combined book with the engine info in it.
TM1115 for the 350-C should cover most everything you need. It details liner removal and installation, as well as the rotating group and cylinder head.

Re: Identify this crawler
There's a few other quick ways to identify a C machine from a B or straight besides the anchor bolts. The track frame support for the rear crossbar is fabricated versus cast, and runs parallel vertically with the track frame. Later C dozers used a shortened track frame similar to the loader, and hav...

Re: Batteries
I know this is a Deere forum, but we've had extraordinary success with CAT brand batteries at work. Both my 350's have Cats in them, as well as most of our trucks. They last, they don't leak, and they have excellent CCA ratings. Best part is, there is no core charge, (at least at the dealers around ...

Re: JD350C clutch seals? (Thrust Washers - Solved)
Good info in here.
Just an FYI, the thrust washers are listed online, but not illustrated. They're grouped under the bearing housings.
My parts book mentions them as well, and even says they're not illustrated.
Glad they fixed it somewhere along the line, it was confusing at best.

Re: 350C Reverser - Clutch Pressure Regulating Valve
Great post, thanks for the detail! Leonard mentioned some good checks, and I think you should also attempt to speed up your rate of shift screw, and pay attention to the wear items he mentioned on the accumulator, and especially the clutch valve, those yokes tend to wear where they contact the pin o...

Re: 350C Clutch Control Valve Adjustment
Continuing on this thread will make it easier to follow IMO. Get a gauge on your reverser clutch pressures, that will really dictate which direction to go afterwards. You don't need the transmission in gear to check them. Just remember, that oil is what feeds the steering clutches, so low pressure i...

Where do you plan to put your sprocket shield and rock guard if the track frame is cut?

Re: 350C Brake self adjustment assembly?
Yes, just like Leonard said, the clip goes on the bottom, and will attempt to compensate for wear by tightening the nut. When you rotate the nut you should feel and hear a click as the tab engages with the nut. Don't feel too bad Leonard, I had to go re-read the FAQ a couple of times before getting ...

Welcome to the addiction known as owning a crawler.
Agree with everyone about some more traction for hills and ice.
Also noticed your pre-cleaner bowl and cap are missing, if you're keeping it outside make sure to keep that covered or your air filter is open to getting wet.

Re: What is in a JD350 fuel tank
Good pics Stan! Also note that somewhere (350B?) along the line they also added an outlet screen. It threads into the pipe nipple that leads to the shut off valve, only way to clean it is to drain the tank. Another less important item is they added the lockable cap too (or at least the arm for a pad...

Re: 350CE Alternate Serial Number Locations
The serial number should be stamped on the right rear on top of the transmission case. There are two sets of numbers on top, one is the pinion depth center line measurement, the other is the last 6 digits of the machine serial number. Probably have to scrape some paint off to uncover it. Some batter...

Re: 350B reverser removal from rear
It's much easier to remove the reverser out the front, assuming you are starting with a complete machine. That's the way it is designed to come out. As others have said, the engine has no mounts of it's own, it hangs on the front of the reverser, so there would be nothing supporting it and the radia...

Re: 1988 350d dozer
Can't remember the exact amount, (it's in the manual) but they are all a common sump, or 1 capacity.
You can speed the process up by using the bung plugs on the clutch housings, but the level is checked via the transmission dipstick.
