If there was no pto gearing at the front, then surely the pto shaft must be flopping around? The front of the shaft is only supported by the larger gear. Even if you had to lower the oil level a bit, you could look in with a flash light to see if the gear is there. Just because there is no lever, do...

NWJD fan

I put a winch and arch on a 450E and made up my own bracket and strap arrangement. But the bolts worked themselves loose on one side and just as you say, there is now a crack in the side rail weld where it bolts to the steering clutch housing. The other side stayed tight and has no crack.

Just west of here in the 70s and 80s, there used to be dozens of mostly 550s used for skidding. The dealer would not let them out of the yard without a similar set up. That is, taking the top rails off of a hoe mounting bracket and welding them to the ROPS bracket in order to stiffen up the tractor ...

This looks similar to the 3600 that I have, (not for sale), a bit hokey looking where the roller support is welded on, but would probably be OK for a 350?

You are probably not going to believe this, but I have used the tie on a log trick even on a dual wheel truck. It was a long time ago, ( and in a far away land, Australia actually). We had about a 5 ton International 4x4 and hit soft ground about 30 miles from the end of civilization. The rims were ...

Can not remember for sure, but think I have used one of those saws. Did have a 50 cc size class Jonsered once give a splutter and then reverse rotation of the chain in the middle of a cut. Still not sure how that is possible. Best, (or worst) memory of Jonsered saws of that era when the tank and cra...

mikeintn Every undercarriage I have ever had has ended up looking a lot worse than yours. I have lots of roller wear but never a seized roller with the corresponding wear that would allow for chains to look like that. It looks more likely to me that your wear is somehow related to abrasion between t...

Hi Smokey, Your hitch looks good to me. It sure has to a big plus if you can use the backhoe mount without modifcation. Have never had any trouble with mine, but my style would not be for everyone. At least one of the welds you saw in the picture was because I am one of those cheap types and had to ...

More on PTOs and 3 Point Hitches

There has been some interest in the past on 3 point hitches and PTO s. Here are my 2 cents worth. My experience has been different than many opinions expressed here. Having said that, I think I have a decent understanding of only 450C,D, and E series. So other models, especially torque converter dri...
