Re: 450 Engine locked up?
I'm trying to ascertain if my engine is locked up. The battery is dead, so I bought one of those rechargeable jump starters with (allegedly) 900 peak amps available. I don't know if that translates in to cold cranking amps exactly, but regardless, here's what happened: http://www.flickr.com/photos/...

Re: JD 450 Roller question
I now own my first crawler. A 1966 450 model diesel with the L-H-Reverser transmission and 6 way power dozer blade. It is in great condition for it's age and came with Operator, Parts and Service manuals. All the manuals show the rollers and the service manual says to grease the rollers but there a...

450C Transmission
My machine sat for several years before I recently bought it and the other day I decided to change all fluids on my 450C crawler dozer before I started using it. When I pulled the drain plug on the transmission I got not only the oil to drain but several gallons of water. How is it possible for wate...

450 Steering
I recently purchased a 450C Crawler Dozer and the left steering lever is very hard to pull. It will release but is very hard to pull. Is this a sign that the steering clutches need to be replaced on the left side or maybe something else is wrong? Thank you in advance.

Need help with serial number
I recently purchased a used 450C Crawler Dozer but am unable to find a serial number on the machine. I can find the Engine data plate with serial number but as of yet, I can't find the chasis data plate. Could someone enlighten me as to where it might be located? The TM that I have shows a dataplate...

Won't start
Could be one of several things. First, check to see if you have 12vdc at the injection pump when the ignition is on. This powers the fuel shut off solenoid allowing fuel to go through the pump. If the lead has no power, you won't get fuel. Second, if you have power but no fuel, I'd suspect the fuel...

JD 450C Crawler Dozer
I have a John Deere 450C Bulldozer that will not start. I have fuel to the Injector Pump but not coming out of the pump going to the injectors. Could this be an electrical problem or an internal problem with the Pump itself, and if so, what do I do to correct it? Thank you in advance for your help.
