And also, the forward/reverse lever had to be in the forward position to make the winch operate? does the winch lever put the pto in gear? I gues...

for the 50 bucks that a battery load tester costs they are well worth it when you hook one up and test for crank amps .Then learn to read the tester and it will tell the condition of starter as well as the alternator .This is all the information any good crawler man needs to find a problem fast .Lo...

You can try leaving the booster hooked up for about 15 minutes then try it again... I have one for boosting heavy trucks and with ...

I found a tech manual for it that can be viewed online but not sure if it's OK to put the link here due to possible copyright violations...
Then again it's a US Army issue tech manual and says "APPROVED FOR PUBLIC RELEASE; DISTRIBUTION IS UNLIMITED"

If the center hole in the original pulley is to large you should be able to machine a bushing to make it work... I seem to recall that the GM alt has a spacer behind the pulley anyway... If the hole is too small of course you could bore it out...

Your cost is going to depend on how you want to fix it. The spring isolator system is no longer used and there is a replacement system to use in its place. Try this thread. It contains what you need to know to make a decision: http://www.jdcrawlers.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=2823 The new styl...

Thanks Lavoy... The tech manual isn't very thorough on the engine removal procedure, only dedicated a couple paragraphs to it... But I did find a note that says Alternate method would be to remove the engine, radiator, and pump with support as a unit... So I guess I answered my own question... Found...
