I was once told by a deere mech that most cases of cracks in side frames, clutch housing and transmissions were caused by dropping the tractor on a hard surface. Most cases were rapid loading and unloading on trailers. Use care when crossing that pivot pitch point.

Frank, You're a very sick, sick man. A bad case of Deere disease with zero possibility of recovery.

Not a bad crawler but the tracks are shot. The 1200 hours on the meter is also not correct. The track rails show a lot more wear than that even if they were never changed. If you only intend to use it for 40 to 50 hrs, it could work as is for a while but be careful with thin chains and knife point r...

iron, oxygen and water react to form hydrated iron oxide. When hydrated iron oxide dries, it leaves just the reddish yellow iron oxide. Adding water again will slowly rehydrate the iron oxide if the water can actually come in contact with the iron oxide. Jim, (a chemistry major) Just thinking about ...

rollover

Years ago, a gun club bought a 450B to do small cleanup around the range. It had limb risers but no brush guards. A friend of mine did a lot of mechanical work on the tractor and enjoyed running it. I cautioned him one day to always fasten his seat belt. Well, a couple years later, he told me a stor...

450C Dozer limb risers

Just going through some of the parts I have from the days when I was running 2 450C dozers. I found a complete set of limb risers including the exhaust and exhaust guards. It also includes the weld pieces removed from the canopy. Any suggestions as to the best way to sell these and the price they sh...

Do you have any fuel leaks around the injection pump or fuel pump? Also, if you have a plugged up air vent in the fuel tank, the vaccuum would pull the fuel away from the injection pump.

What you are describing is obviously not kicking out of gear. I think your problem would be a lack of pressure in the transmission pump circuit. Get a pressure gauge and check the pressure at idle.

The replacement parts are no longer available for that model. I would suggest removing the solenoid, plunger and spring and make sure they are clean and re-install. It is obviously working to open but the spring is not seating the plunger when the solenoid is unpowered.

On a dozer, the most common roller to fail is the rear one. On a loader, it is the front one. Look at your rear roller on the side where the loud noise is heard.

Just riding up on the rollers should not produce a loud snap but if it does ride up on the rollers due to worn flanges, the sprokets may be "catching" on the chain. That would produce a LOUD snap.

Take a look at the condition of the front idlers, rollers and sprokets. Several photos would help.

77 Ford, take a close look at the expanded photo. Look at the angle of the cylinder yoke to the track frame. It is slanted upward several degrees and does not match the piston angle. Then look at some other photos of Deere crawlers and you will see the yoke is level. Also, there is something funny i...

If the slack could have been taken out of the track, the seller would have done so prior to the photo. Look at the angle difference between the piston and the cylinder in that adjuster. It is significant and indicates the piston is probably broken. That requires breaking the track and new parts for ...

You should have transmission prssure of 140 psi. If you do not and shims on the transmission pumps does not increase the pressure, then you have a leak somewhere.

I would still be concerned about the transmission pump. It is right there in the clutch housing and could be the source of the leak.
