1966 450 with 6 way blade

I'm interested to see if anyone knows how much a 450 crawler with the 6 way blade, pto, and remote hydraulics cost new in 1966. Anyone know?

If you find a backhoe attachment and don't have the mounting bracket, I have a mounting bracket and don't need it. Note they are real heavy to ship but I visit Tuscaloosa once in a while. http://s727.photobucket.com/albums/ww280/tominmo/?action=view¤t=dozer1.jpg&newest=1 Added 12-10: Nevermind...

My 450 is the same way but with a blade switch on the negative battery post. The battery will drain if there is not a resistor installed between the ignition switch terminal and the #1 terminal on the back of the generator. A 10 OHM / 2 watt+ resistor and a 5 amp / 50 volt diode installed inline on ...

I'm having fun following this topic. The pictures are good. I especially like the 2 inch trailer ball on the drawbar.

450 Dozer attachment question

http://s727.photobucket.com/albums/ww280/tominmo/?action=view¤t=dozer1.jpg&newest=1 This is a link to a picture of a tool bar or mount of some kind that fits on the back level with the pto. Can anyone identify this and come up with a part number? I have the 450 crawler parts book but it doesn'...

As you know, it needs fuel, air, and compression. Make sure the battery and starter connections are good to spin the engine fast enough.

I had a similar problem when I went to look at buying my 450. It was getting fuel but it wouldn't hit. As soon as I pulled the air intake hose to the intake manifold it fired right up. It turned out the air filter was totally clogged to the point of collapse. It looked like the original filter from ...

It's my understanding that the dirty oil enters to the outside of the filtering element and the clean oil exits from the center. This utilizes the most surface area of the filter element. It sounds like your tractor is hosed correctly. There is a diagram of the oil supply/filtering system showing fl...

I've done this with the Delco three wire alternator on several tractors. It's pretty simple. Last week I purchased a lifetime warranty alternator from AutoZone for under $50. In a nutshell, remove regulator and isolate or remove wires. One wire from the ON terminal of ignition to field terminal #1. ...

JD 450 Roller question

I now own my first crawler. A 1966 450 model diesel with the L-H-Reverser transmission and 6 way power dozer blade. It is in great condition for it's age and came with Operator, Parts and Service manuals. All the manuals show the rollers and the service manual says to grease the rollers but there ar...
