Quick and dirty 350 model identification

If the reverser control is on the LH side of the instrument cluster it is most likely a straight 350. If the reverser control is mounted on the battery box and there are 2 small hydraulic cylinders under the seat it is most likely a 350B If the reverser control is on the battery box and there is hyd...

Electricity 101

So now we have generators, alternators, regulators, ammeters, voltmeters, DC, AC, rectifiers even, maybe! all messing around with volts, amps, watts and maybe ohms. What are these units about? They are somewhat similar to water moving through a hose. Volts are the electrical pressure that makes the ...

Hello Jim. Could you post some photos of what you are dealing with? Looks like there are some circlips or snap rings in the IPC that might need to be removed but hard to say without seeing how the assembly is installed in the transmission. Also shows the actuating pin as a separate pice that might j...

350 single wire alternator

The short answer is yes. Hook up the hot wire (goes through the ammeter to starter positive terminal) and it should be good to go.

350C isolator

As Tigerhaze says installation details are critical. I think Jdemaris gave the comprehensive list of installation procedures on yesterdays tractors. If you are a little bit adventurous there was a fairly recent post on 350C isolators here that detailed using a 100+HP rated clutch disc bolted onto th...

JD parts listings are available online. Try jdpc.com. Enter 6415 or 450c in the little box in the upper LH corner and that should take you to an appropriate manual. pondhogvt, I suspect your.02 is worth a fair bit. Definitely no comparison in blade strength between all hydraulic and outside mount ma...

450 6 way conversion

The outside dozer on the 450C was available in 2 configurations. The 6410 is likely what you have with all manual adjustments and the 6415 (I think) which had hydraulic tilt but the blade was fixed at 90 degrees for reasons I am not sure. Look in the 450 parts book, it may provide some ideas for hyd...

I have been using Rotella T6 synthetic 5-40 the last few years. Cranks easy in the cold but now I wonder what else it might be doing.

Reverser filter

Reverser filter is located behind square plate held on with 4 bolts on RH side of reverser sump. Reverser, transmission and final drive oils are all separate on 350 and 350B . Transmission fill is on LH side of floor at back end of floor panel under the frame that supports transmission shifter gate....

350 reverser dipstick

Dipstick for the reverser is on the floorboard a little to the right of the air cleaner. To check fluid level remove dipstick wipe dry and place into hole but do not thread cap down, remove again and check level. Not uncommon for the throttle and reverser control cables to rust up or freeze up. Was ...

350 loader weight

I believe the 11570 ld weight is all up with counterweight installed. Google murphyused.com. They have hundreds (thousands?) of factory brochures scanned and available to view. You should find your machine there and I believe it says the 350 loader was delivered with an 800 ld counterweight. Going t...

You may have the furthest west machine but think you are a little short for farthest north. There is a 68 350 loader sitting in a shed at an unmanned military facility at D'iberville Fiord on Ellesmere Island at around 81 degrees north. North east Canada just west of Greenland.

9300 back hoe pins

I made pins for my backhoe out of 1.5 inch round stock. I end drilled and tapped both ends. On one end I installed a 1/2 inch eyebolt and large washer that prevents pin from sliding out. Other end uses ashore 1/2 inch bolt with lock washer and large penny washer or drilled piece of flat bar to retai...
