tjdub, vestor_guy Thanks for the feedback... It smokes from the vent, more and more as it warms up and after a half an hour it is hard to drive without getting gassed! Good advice though as I would like to avoid taking it apart if the problem can be solved otherwise. I have another head off a 450b I...

Can the engine flywheel clutch from a 450 work in a 450b ?

I recently purchased a 450 loader with a poor undercarriage as a parts machine for my 450b dozer that only needed a new crank shaft and a push rod and re assembly to be complete. I bought the dozer with the engine in boxes and now discovered that the engine flywheel clutch is missing, and I see on t...

I have to admit that was interesting but, I think it was far too dangerous. I could hardly watch.

Thanks for sharing that..You made a good choice for sure. I put a winch on my 350b and it made it the tool I needed for cleaning up after a tornado touched down in our 20 acre forest. Odd thing cleaning up after a big wind hits your forest....., the more work you do..... the less it looks like you d...

Welcome from another 350 owner who just joined the site last fall. Nice looking 350, what do you plan on digging with it?

I can't answer to the cause of the white smoke however I have removed the injectors from both my 350's in recent weeks and did not have much trouble getting them out. I removed all the return line connections first, then the injector lines, and then at the base of each injector their is a groove on ...

You have found a crawler and you got to take it home...And it has a six way blade ! and a winch !! With a rops too !!! pinch yourself it might just be a dream. Wow, you might have to give that crawler a name. How about "Lucky" Really that does sound like a lot of work to restore, but I can't say I h...

I had the starter rebuilt, replaced everything, I could have done this myself however I had lots to do cleaning up the engine, heads and valve ports, installing new head gasket, and just going over this old crawler looking for loose bolts etc. Three videos, just click on the photos... First we had t...

Swinemar, I recently purchased that manual and I purchased the download. It is about 340 pages and I took it on a flash drive to a local print shop and they printed it for me at 5 cents page. Then I bought a nice yellow binder and all in it came out to cost $10 less than the printed one from Deere a...

I think I will remove the valves today and make sure the Intake and exhaust ports are free of the mouse stuff. I will be careful not to scratch the seats and valves. I ordered head and valve cover gaskets, arrive Wednesday. I have the injectors in being tested and cleaned, the starter as well, and I...

IT'S LOOSE !!!!!!!!!! When I came in for lunch I thought I might as well spray lots of wd40 in the cylinders, what could it hurt? Checked the Messageboard over lunch and when I went back out.... I thought give it one more try so... I put the bar on the flywheel where the starter goes and no problem ...

The starter is not the real problem, I found. It will still go to the service guys for a quote on a tune up as it smells like burnt wire, and I can see that the front bushing is a little sloppy. When I removed the starter I put a bar on the flywheel and discovered the engine was jammed tight. I put ...

The starter did not have much life in it. It did not sound good right from the start. I will take it off tomorrow and have it rebuilt. I had the injectors cracked open at the first try and turned it over until it had fuel. I had drained all the lines, tank, filters and had a good feeling about it st...

Rats! It did not fire. I guess I will have to pull the head off and inspect. The starter is now not turning it over. I got it hot but let it cool between trys.

JD440ICD2006, thanks for the heads up on the tracks, I had not been thinking about the safety/risk of the grousers as I was pretty excited to see new undercarriage parts. My 350b loader has the proper pads and it is also nice that they do not chew up my yard or natural trails. They are however on ch...
