Re: QUESTIONS!! 450 c wer steer cluth replacement.

Hey that's great!! As the old saying goes... "A blind hog will find an acorn eventually." :D Anyway I'm glad you got it sorted. I wondered about your plates but assumed you had them right. Always a great feeling when you get it to work.

Re: QUESTIONS!! 450 c wer steer cluth replacement.

I don't remember much about the 450s system. I would say you have a valving issue or a restriction somewhere causing the clutch pack to stay engaged instead of releasing the pressure that has it engaged. Check linkage to the steering valve and anything that should be effecting the clutch on that sid...

Re: QUESTIONS!! 450 c wer steer cluth replacement.

Wow dude... sorry you're struggling with this repair. Repairs like this will test a persons patience for sure. Also sorry that Deere got it wrong on the parts. It sucks but unfortunately people do make mistakes. Still,,, I would let them know how frustrated I am. Hang in there and try to be patient....

Re: QUESTIONS!! 450 c wer steer cluth replacement.

Not sure I fully understand your post. If what you are saying is that the clutch won't release then yes you have the wrong discs. The grooves are what help a wet clutch release or separate when the pressure that applies them has been turned off. Solid plates will eventually separate but not like the...

Re: 450c hlr checks

Yes you can air check the clutch pack. Air will also reveal any other pressure leaks you may have. I don't remember exactly how we did it as far as where to connect an air source. That has been no less than a hundred years ago!! :D I would say given what you have found that a rebuild is in your futu...

Re: 350 b brake lever

Yes, the lever should come off once you have removed or loosened the set screw. I usually just remove the screw completely. The lever could be seized with rust, If you have a torch then some heat can be applied to help loosen it. I have also used a good penetrating oil and then drive them off with a...

Re: 350B reverser leak ?

If it is leaking between the reverser and the transmission, then it will be a seal either from the reverser output shaft or the input shaft on the transmission. The area you are referring to is where the reverser and the transmission bolt together. The weep hole is actually in the rear of the revers...

Re: 350B steering clutch pilot bearing question

I'm going to be optimistic and say you are probably okay. And let me just say that the correct way to install the final is by putting the shaft in the transmission first. And there are reasons behind that as well. But for your answer, the only way for the shaft or axle to slide back inside the trans...

Re: JD straight 350 steering clutch won"t release

So it has been forever since I last worked on the power assist cylinders on these machines. So I don't remember a lot about them. However that being said, you are correct in your assumptions in how and or what they do. The valving action is all done inside the cylinders. They activate internally as ...

Re: JD straight 350 steering clutch won"t release

Hey... I just had another thought on this. You say the machine has power steering? Check the adjustment on the steering cylinder clevises for that side. I have had them be off and it affects the throw on the levers inside the clutch housing.

Re: JD straight 350 steering clutch won"t release

Okay so unfortunately you have totally misunderstood what I was trying to get across. That is on me for not explaining it better. I wasn't intending for you to gain any more adjustment at the clutch adjuster. What I was trying to get across is the brake actuator lever is stuck or seized to the horiz...

Re: JD straight 350 steering clutch won"t release

Your issue is most likely rusted or seized linkage related. If the linkage seizes to the pivot shaft then it will cause the adjuster to not have enough threads to extend out before it comes off. It will also cause the brake to engage before the clutch can release. You need to make sure everything is...

Re: model c roosamaster injection pump leaking fuel at throttle pinion lever.

I don't have much experience on the C model injection pumps. A friend of mine had to send his pump to a rebuilder to get that seal replaced. He said it takes a special tool to install it. Sorry you haven't gotten any replies to this. When I saw you hadn't I reached out to my friend and that is what ...

Re: Looking to purchase a 450c and sell 555a

Sounds okay as long as it is a good machine. You are getting a backhoe so that is always a plus. Like I tell everyone... look at the undercarriage!! I can't stress that enough. You can be out several thousand bucks just for tracks and rollers.
