Take them to a machine shop.
They can clean and measure all parts and give advice on what can be done.

A power increase at serial # 448001 changed the drivetrain.
The diesel was added then as well.
The trans is 1" longer in my later 440IC with a 4 speed than in the early 440IC with a 5 speed.
Just what I could check and measure.

1010 does not have a boreable block.
It has a sleeve deck. Not easy to come by.
Hopefully the compression loss is a valve issue.
Deere used to offer an oversized piston for these sleeve decks...
I am not aware that they are available anymore.
Maybe a fresh set of rings will take care of it.

Lavoy may have engine kits...
I would send the block in to be cleaned and see if she needs to be bored.
Crank should go in too and be cleaned and machined if needed.
Camshafts can be remachined.
New are available.

Happy wrenching,

In my humble opinion as long as she doesn't boil over it is ok.
Keeping the air flow is really important.
Might be time for a fresh water pump?

Try to determine where the knock is from.
Mechanics trick of using a long screwdriver tip against the block and your ear on Tue other end may help get you close to the knock.

Track press would be best...
2 masters won't hurt a thing.

I would use the 420 tracks and add a rail section to it to get the added link you need.
If the pins and bushings are good I don't think you can short track it.

Would be good to get the Deere service manual for your machine if you don't have it already.

Both sides may need the same while you are in there.

Oil is not good on the clutch plates and brake bands.
Time to open it up and replace most of those parts.

Lavoy may have a deal for you on an engine kit.
I would get the starter rebuilt as well.
Reliance makes good rebuild kits for many Deere machines.

Any idea on hours on that engine?
Major may be best while she is out of the Dozer.
