I think comparing dozers to CTL is apples and oranges. They serve different functions and have different strengths and weaknesses. The CTL will be fast, agile, and do amazing finish work. The dozer will be durable, stronger, and able to do the heavy pushing without breaking down. The best example I ...

Squeaky

I've not drove my little track loader in awhile and the under-carriage is really super squeaky. Nothing is locked up I'm sure it's from sitting for a couple of months. I was wondering if lubricating it with some diesel in a bug sprayer or bulk wd-40 would be a good or bad idea.

Any ideas?

I only run one battery and I've started in some pretty cold weather.

You should be fine.

I found the best deal at a farm supply store. I bought a 1000 amp tractor battery that fit good for 85 dollars. Which was about 25 cheaper than the auto parts store.

I agree, leave it. I know it was frustrating for me to keep looking at low end crawlers only to find them misrepresented and beat silly. The U/C that is claimed to be 80% only when you measure it to be 15% beyond life. You have to keep going and eventually you'll find the right machine. It took me a...

H-L-R question

The recent topic on the 450c HLR has got me thinking a bit. My question is do you use the clutch when switching from forward to reverse? I typically do, it seems much less violent that way. I've done it both and it seems to work but there is a pretty sudden jerk if I don't use the clutch. I do not t...

2,670 is my guess.

I'm basically looking at it as a circle with a triangle duck bill so to speak.

Along the lines of this, has anyone ever pulled their tracks without removing the master pin. Then taken the track to a shop to get the master pin pressed out and replaced with the bolt together link to make it easier to remove in the field? I've been thinking about that but sense I got my new sprin...

Thank's for all the tips, I'm suppose to get my GN back next week (they are adding a 3rd axel) and then I'll be set.

I only plan on short trips to help friends and family out. Hopefully won't have to move it more than a few times a year.

How do you secure your loader for transport

By looking up the legal way to lock down my loader for transport I need 4 chains and 4 boomers 5/16" to work. While keeping legal is nice, I'm more interested in what works the best, I've found the two are usually not the same. On the front I could tie a chain to each loader arm OR both chains to th...

The vent is plugged no doubt about that, i tried in vain last night with a coat hanger to get it open. I'll have to go back with something stiffer and some carb cleaner or something to soften it up.

Do you think this could be the source of both problems or merely the starting problem?

450c performance

I've got a few questions regarding performance on my little non turbo 450c loader. 1) It seems hard to start. I always turn the fuel off under the seat when not in use. Normally several days or a week or two passes before I try and use it again. If I just turn the fuel on and start cranking it takes...

Those are the only ones my 450c had, in the way of block plugs. If you are changing hoses don't forget the little ellbows that connect to the cooler by the oil filter. I really recommend buying the correct hoses from Jd. I tried to make mine and they kept kinking... the hoses ellbows are fairly inex...
