Re: jd450 crawler

Any chance what you described as "ball bearing with shards" is a magnet? I know some people put them in places like that to grab metal floating around. Normally they are flat but I've seen all shapes and sizes, I found a speaker magnet in an oil pan once....

Re: Repacking Cylinders

I decided to try again to get some apart. I drilled a 1/2" hole into the edge flange of a tandem dual trailer I have. I ran a bolt thru with a piece of 3" angle on top to hold it down and my air impact easily took them apart. It's all about having that rod tight to something immovable. I did just re...

Re: Repacking Cylinders

Yep, see post above.

Now on to packing! I have a 3/4" click torque wrench, makes tightening them quite easy. Just a bugger to get apart.

Re: Repacking Cylinders

He broke them all loose with a battery powered 3/4" gun(rated 1350 ft/lbs) and the eye clamped to 1000 pound workbench. I think the key is getting it locked down solid so you get the impact motion without movement.

Re: Repacking Cylinders

Thank you for the quick Reply Lavoy.

Does it change your opinion any because they are bolts ? One has 1 1/2 " head the other 2 3/8".

Repacking Cylinders

I'm repacking cylinders on my 580c backhoe. The piston bolts are just a huge pain to get loose. I've got a 950 ft pound 3/4" impact and it will not budge them. The last one I did I put a rock bar thru the eyelet, drove over the rock bar with my skid steer and put a 8' cheater bar on my 3/4" break ov...

Glad you're doing well. How's that shop restoration project coming, you get it all done or will it ever be done?

Re: JD 350B boom locking bar

My angle bars have never even left a mark on my glands,I've got nice band saw cut pieces. I've never left them in for more than a few days while doing repairs. I'd feel comfortable leaving them in there for very long periods of time though.

Ripper shanks

How do the shanks fit into the slot? I have the shank the wedge and the spring, there is also a 5/16" bolt in the parts diagram. How does all this fit together to lock the shank in the slot? There are groves in the side of the shank is that supposed to fit into something? Can anyone provide some up ...

Re: John Deere Dealer that ship

Follow up: Yes Martin sells online and ships direct but they had to cancel my order because I'm in Murphy's territory. I literally cannot buy these parts and have them shipped to my house unless I buy them from Murphy who does not do online direct ships. I have to order the parts and drive an hour t...

Re: John Deere Dealer that ship

Ironically my local ( 15 miles from me) ag dealer will do online order and ship but they cannot sell construction parts. My local construction (60 miles) does virtually nothing online and will not ship parts online at all. It's very irritating in this modern age not to be able to order parts online ...

John Deere Dealer that ship

I'm looking for a john deere construction dealer that ships parts, that I can use the national online john deere ordering to use. Currently I cannot see anyone but Murphy construction and they will not ship online orders.
