Re: root rake for jd440ic

Rockland manufacturing is right down the road from me. Their always making really nice custom buckets and attachments, mostly for much larger machines. They set the buckets out in the yard when their done before their shipped. And theirs been a few times I stopped by and looked at some of the attach...

Re: Digging deaper into my Gearmatic 8a winch - includes pictures

Hey Paul! After reading thru this old post I remembered about that 2 part metal epoxy we used on the spider. I had to readjust the clutch bolts late last fall and the epoxy was still holding up strong and no cracks!

Re: Gearmatic 8a

Unfortunately I only have a leftover spider casting that I want to keep. There’s parts out there, I had to buy 2 winch’s to make 1 working winch.... check out the parts for a modern gearmatic winch. I found that there are parts that are used off of the 8a that are still used on modern winches. Check...

Re: Gearmatic 8a

Are you missing one or is it broken? It can be welded but it has to cool slowly by covering the casting completely in a bucket of sand after it’s welded. I think I preheated my casting first with a rosebud torch. I have a few parts leftover I’ll take a look if I have one.

Re: 5 speed transmission, ring and pinion, tranny casting for sale

It’s time to clean out the garage and I still have this transmission sitting around. I’m open to any reasonable offers before it goes to the scrap yard. Located in zip code 15963. You can pickup or I can get a freight shipping cost if someone is seriously interested. Everything in the pictures is in...

Re: Gearmatic 8a

I was able to remove my plug using a torch with a rosebud tip, some heat makes a big difference. I think I also used some 1/2” flat plate to make a large screwdriver to turn the nut out with a large pipe wrench to turn the plate.

Re: Gearmatic 8a

If Lavoy doesn’t have the parts you need, I have a list of parts I used to completely rebuild my 8a winch and controller. I also have a manual available to email. I also have posted rebuild pics of the winch here. Just search my my name.

Re: 420c 5 roller undercarriage specifications

I use to sell undercarriage wear gauges for the 420 but I am all sold out. Regardless it sounds like you will need new rollers. The only option is to buy new 350 rollers or find some used ones off of a 420,430,1010 or 2010.

Re: Any early 1929-30 model a experts out there?

Thanks for your info Andrew, much appreciated! Here is what I am looking to build. The only items really needed from the A is the body, Everything else is from semi modern vehicles and a lot of custom fabrication, which is right up my alley! https://oi1160.photobucket.com/albums/q488/terramiteowner/...
