So, I was able to get both covers off, and then my confusion begins.... I attempted adjustments per manual, and then when I pulled back on left lever (the side I adjusted) the dozer would stall. I presumed I had not properly adjusted the clutch, and was putting the brake on while the clutch was stil...

Thanks for the reply, I am just concerned I make a wrong adjustment and wear out the clutch or the brake. I do have the manual in a pdf and bring it with my, on a notebook, but the directions are not as clear as I would like. Ironically I am considering trying to pick up another 450B, in dozer form....

JD 450B mechanic desired near SW NH
I would like a experienced mechanic familiar with the JD450B to perform service, and show me what I should be doing, at my property in SW NH. I will be attempting to adjust the steering clutches but know knowledge has value. I also noticed a weeping hydraulic hard line on the loader and while I have...

Thanks Scott, Looks like I need better images, I can see where the top covers are, but no the side covers. Does the back assembly need to be removed to see them (the assembly containing the seat and rear side pods.) If any have better directions, particularly photos of where the side panels are that...

450B steering adjustment and radiator
I had my steering clutches done two years ago, and noticed one side was not turning as well, now it has stopped. I presume I need to go through the adjustment process as specified in the shop manual (which I have). As the JD450B Loader it is in rural location I want to make sure I am properly prepar...

Thank you for trying, I am sorry, as a newbie, I thought FEL was standard. I presume you now understand it is Front End Loader. The link you provided could be just what I need, but I don't the part number nor do I know what John Deere would call the knob. The knob is threaded onto the shaft, so it s...

20 'cargo container with JD450B
Will a JD450B drag or push a 20' cargo container around?
I am thinking of getting 1 or 2 to use as shed/garage storage on my property, and am hoping I can locate it where desired by using the JD 450B.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

possible to have it welded in place Of course it's your call, but some food for thought. Bolts are cheaper than a welders time; strong overhead welding in tight places is challenging and time consuming; when you need to remove the pan in the future ( and you probably will), you'll be grinding/torch...

I am wondering if I might be able to attach a winch to the belly pan to straighten it if needed. To do the job, you'll be using all your tools and imagination. Sprung belly pans are a pain to re-attach. Check the threads you're attaching to. Often they are beat up and you'll get a bolt started and ...

Hi: These type tanks are often sold on craigslist for less than this one. http://burlington.craigslist.org/for/3894538807.html You could use some firewood logs to get your crawler in the air. two about 2' long and what ever diameter seems right at the rear will lift that end. Do the same at the fro...
