My 450 has sat most of the summer and we have had a lot of rain,.plugs are out of the case and they are dry. It does not want to move when you release the main clutch the engine bogs down. I have put everything in neutral and tried to pull it but it is stuck. Any Ideas????

cracked case
Weld the case.and move on to other things. I welded mine on a 450b several months ago and it works fine. Check the bolts that go to the finals . If the fram is cracked near these bolts line it up and weld it. If you buy all those parts and put all the time in to changing the case it is not worth it....

450high range
Thanks Jt
I have been running it in low range so far was afraid I might screw it up to use high. Is it a big job to do these seals you talk of? I will be doing some more testing today. THanks

450b high range
I have checked the pressures ans all seem to be in order except whenI shift into high range. Reverse and low are fine and hold enough push and pull hard. When shifted to high it will move then slow down and stop. I have been running with the gauge in the pressure port and it seems to vary fron 40 to...

trans gasket
The gasket was discontinued by deere long ago, they now use a loctite gasket compuond sold at many parts stores and by deere dealers, I am not sure of the number, but I used it recently on my 450b trans case seemed to seal just fine. Remeber to only tighten those bolts to 35ft.lbs or they can break. I...

Well I finally got to work on the dozer and got her welded. I plowed alot of snow with it today and so far no leaks. I also found some craks in the side frames and welded those. It has been a long haul and alot work and research. It surer is good to have it going again.

valve stem
That is there to aid in bleeding the fuel system, I had a 1948 D4 that an old guy put one on. If you run out of fuel you fill er up and pressure the tank and out the fuel comes from the bleeders b4 you know it. Try runing with the cap loose and you will find if the vent is plugged.

I found the leak again
I talked to a retired JD dealership mechanic today,he says the trans case is cast steel and has seen many of them welded. He also told me the main cause is loose or broken frame bolts, mine had been redon when I got it. It had the update to 7/8 bolts and new threads. However when I first got it I not...
