Omega......your post gave me a smile and chuckle on an otherwise mundane day. :lol And as for that 14 year old kid.......well, let's just say I too am very well aquainted with him, as are most of us on this board. Your "trophy" that you have is actually cherry compared to the shape mine was.....and ...

I'm not familiar with these cylinders or the seals that they use but I found that Chicago Rawhide has a fantastic parts cross reference manual available online for free. Might be worth a try. I was able to.cross reference all the John Deere bearing and seal numbers that I needed for my reverser on m...

Well guys, as promised.....I finally got time to put some pics up of the die I made to form the radius thrust washers that go behind the spider gears in the reverser. I got the differential section of the reverser together and it all works great. http://m.flickr.com/photos/83418390@N07/8018445053/li...

Being a machinist/welder for 25 years I have done this more times than I have fingers and toes and it is the best method of removal if you can get to it. Broken dowel pins can be removed in a similar fashion by welding a stud to the broken dowel then use a slide hammer to pull the broken dowel out. ...

I couldn't agree more Lavoy. At least by rebuilding the transmission you have, or anything else for that matter, you know exactly what you have when you are done. This is precisely why I do all my own mechanical work. Think about it.....who will put more care into a repair, the guy who owns the equi...

Nice looking old mc. The fellows I meet here are some of the most resourceful people I have ever met and you certainly didn't let us down in that dept.....The swingset was a cool idea. Nothing like a little redneck engineering to bring a project to fruition. Keep the good pics coming of the pr...

Glad to hear you found the problem. I never would have imagined that, but can definately see how that would.cause a problem. Here is a pic of a socket wrench I made to pull the rear clutch out of my crawler. http://m.flickr.com/#/photos/83418390@N07/7642285326/ It's not fancy but it gets the job done.

Yeah Ben, Just doing a few parts at a time. It's a pain in the butt cleaning the spray gun that many times, but it makes the entire job seem a little more manageable. Plus it keeps from having my whole shop dedicated to just my crawler.......which doesn't exactly pay the bills. That is one of ...
