Turning shaft

Just wondering if anyone has ever turned the upper idler shaft to bring the unworn side to the top

seems like this could work ?

Just wondering if there is a proper way for tracks to be running , most pictures show the grouser bar toward the back of the pad when the pad is against the ground , but my machine has them the other way and i have seen some other machines like this , can this cause any damage?

Hey lavoy , I have been watching the jd parts web site and in the last week the prices have dropped on the seals and bushings for the front idlers for a 440 I ordered 2 new front Idlers just to see what would happen , they called me today and said all the parts are in ! Gary,

I removed the final on my 440 without a hoist , you just need a second person to help you rotate it up and out , its over 200 lbs

I just removed my upper supports last week , 1/2 inch drive socket with 8 foot pieceof heavy wall pipe did it after soaking bolts with penetrating oil

I was sure the bolts would break , but they broke loose and came out no problem, the 1 bolt i heated on the front idler support broke
