Jason, The thrid time was charmed! I was not getting the forward tab into the ear on the brake band. I actually did it the way you described.....course I had not had a chance to read your post...lol. I backed the adjustment all the way out, made sure the front was seated then snapped down the back. ...

Is there a trick to getting those two ears to stay correct while putting the brake assembly back in? I have had it apart twice and getting ready for number 3.......I think it needs wing nuts instead...lol.

And I purchased a manual for it this morning online.....printing it out now!

I have a 450C dozer that I just replaced the left steering clutches and brake band. In trying to adjust the new brake band, I have run out of adjustment on the brake and it still does not hold as it should. I did take the brake assembly out to install the steering clutch. Does anyone have a diagram ...
