Re: 1010 gas won't stay running

The engine was acting up the same before the addition of the electronic ignition. I believe polarity is correct but will double check. The coil is the one I bought when changing the points, distributor cap and rotor, so it may be the wrong coil for electronic ignition. I checked the timing yesterday...

Re: 1010 gas won't stay running

Electronic ignition, so no condenser. Also, I got to thinking again about the warped cylinder scenario. If the engine quit due to expansion from a warped cylinder, it would bog down and kill the engine due to tightening up of a piston or pistons. If that was the case, you would not be able to immedi...

Re: 1010 gas won't stay running

Lavoy,
No, nothing changed. With engine running, coil input is showing 8.66 volts.

Re: 1010 gas won't stay running

Thanks Stan. I used it quite a bit when I first got it 9 years ago, with no problems. Just recently sold all the other 1010s I had but kept this one due to it having the six way blade. The temp. gauge works fine and it's not gone over 180 so I don't see this as an internal over heating problem. My t...

Re: 1010 gas won't stay running

No baffle. Never had one as long as I've had it. Do you think that might be the problem?
Thanks

Re: 1010 gas won't stay running

Stan,
Sorry, I've not heard of a warped cylinder. The head was crowned in the middle but that was ground. Any fix to a warped cylinder?
Thanks,
Martin

1010 gas won't stay running

Hello all, Been a while since I was on here. I recently brought back to life an 1010 gas dozer of mine that had been sitting for 9 years. Without a lot of trouble got it running and it seemed to be okay for a couple of hours. Then it started to run poorly. Through investigation found a warped head a...

4 roller crawler without reverser

Hey guys, I just came across a machine advertised as a 1010 but it's a 4 roller with no reverser. The gear-a-matic winch attaches with a factory made mounting housing which is totally different than the machine I already have that mounts direct to the rear end. It's a gasser and looks just like the ...

Hard starting 2010

I doubled up the battery on my 1010 and it spins over much better and longer. A real help when the temp goes down. Series wiring of course.

Synthetic Winch Line Supplier

I just found the company info. on the winch line I put on my 1010 winch back in October of 08. It was 5/8" by 100' Amsteel Blue with a 5/8" Crosby Solid Thimble braided into one end. I bought it from Peak Trading Corp at 43 Basin Road, West Hurley, NY, 12491 Phone 845-338-1325. Yes, a lot of money b...

Winch line Sliders

Because of the diameter increase due to the line being woven back into itself, at the end where it attaches to the non-crush eye, I had some heavy wall 2" pipe, 2" long, with 1/2" wall, machined to slide over the splice and not bind up. I then welded an eye on the side of the pipe and then put the s...

Winch line

Paul, Yea, that's the stuff. 100 feet was about $400 but it's worth much more than that when you're out in the brush pulling it back to a hitch of logs. No coiling up on you like steel cable. When working at the top of a ravine just take the non-crush eye, I had braided into the end, and fling it do...

Winch

I got a winch, presently on a 1010, of course which is the predecessor to the 350. It might mount up, not sure.

Winch

In 1982 or 83 I made up an adapter spacer out of some 1" plate and mounted a manual winch from a Case 350 to my 1010. Just left about 4" of space in between and put #80 sprocket on the winch input shaft and another on the pto output shaft. Put some roller chain around both and never had a problem. W...
