jd 450 with a winch, looking for a ripper
I have a 450 with a winch, been thinking about taking it off and swapping for a ripper setup, anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

I've already made some adjustments and it's better, just still need to get that one clutch to release more I think. Weird that it releases in reverse but not forward. Any advice on keeping the steering levers held back during storage? Would that actually help? Having never been inside one, I can't ...

After market solution
There is an aftermarket solution. I bought it. About $100. Complete replacement of solenoid. Works perfect. Everytime

adjusting steering clutch and brake
I have my JD manual and it is clear as mud, I am adjusting my new steering clutch and brakes. the manual says to set he levers out at 2" and adjust the clutch adjusting rod to remove all free travel, does that mean to set the throw out bearing at touch point of the steering clutch pressure plate fin...

can I get a price on the gauges. ohhhhh wow....... 20" channel locks! I think I just got a tracing of the JD264 gauge. I will look to make sure it is right and then try to figure out if it is ok to post a sketch of it. it is used to setup the steering clutch as well as the engine clutch pressure plates. Are those metallic disc's? as for the height take the pack back out and take a good old steel and put it in first and reload the pack and see if the height is about what it was.....The weld trick works great been using it for years when it cools the cup shrinks and as you said will almost fall out ...

more bad news in my diff, had both bearings on my spool bad.

just make sure you have the right hub and brake drum
my crawler is a 450, plain 450, it uses a different hub and brake drum. also uses different steel disc. The T20717 steel separator plates are often confused with the T31732 plates used in the later steering clutches. To be sure which plates you have in your clutch the thickness should be measured. T...

I need some thoughts
I suspect my oil leak into the right side to be from the oring around the quill. I see the "crust" around the bottom in the picture, I suspect that is where it is leaking.
