If i was in that position ..and even think it needs oil change. I would get book out and see what amount shows for capacity change it and measure where yur full mark is and go from there

JWB, i think Jason? Just got word from our pic server guy....he on way to N. Carolina and will check when he gets back Indiana way where server located....is probably down from storm damage knocking it out....should be another couple days or so to get server back up.... Once it is back up Lavoy does...

i assume that spring had something to do with applying tension to the shaft for that quarter inch? i haven't pulled 2010 steering tho may have to in future.

ok second time around....you said if you pull on the right steering your left track is sluggish. It will pay you immensely to find out if your friend actually got John Deere replacement clutches and steels....the off brands are really KNOWN to shatter and break apart...which could be what has happen...

and is usually positive ground and will probably need polarized. not sure if book will show procedures tho probably will.

You really do need to do the adjustment procedure. That will give you the answer. what the steering lever actually does is first it disengages the clutch by applying pressure to the fingers to release the clutch and just a fraction later the brake is applied to stop that track. and the other track i...

not sure what the MC's steering compares to the jd440ic, i assume Lavoy went thru the adjustment issue and would appear conclusions are needing new clutches and brakes for the steering? I am 76 and was able to replace my left side steering with help from a female friend of family, thou i did rig up ...

Glad you found the problem!!!! Will see what develops for your part, i call them shift forks and not sure if a person could actually machine them due to bent configuration from what i recall. yup ...except pull my 33ft wag along camper!, without tearing the rear end out, shoulda got a 5th or goose..stabilizers don't do job..not at highway travels anyway.
