Re: search program stinks

Ha Ha ,,all of your replies ARE welcomed AND thanks to you all...BUT I was only trying to use the search feature on this site/(late model JD crawler). And I realize that I lack todays computing skills. I was looking for info/pictures on what I may be experiencing when I decide to remove a steering c...

cylinder repair

Ken P Thanks for your input I was able to get the rod out with some terrific advice from Lavoy . I have the boom frame supported on a wall of stacked cement blocks so I wouldn't have the thing come crashing down on me. I understand the nut removal will be the next fun thing. There was a lot of rust ...

450 Loader Boom Cyl repair

I was trying to install a hyd seal kit in my 450 loader boom cylinder but couldn't get the rod to come out. The spanner nut and snap ring came off but then the rod guide (the part that the spanner nut screws to) would only come out about 3/4 inch past the threaded part. Total movement outward includ...

gmt time?

Thanks for the info.I figured it had to do with the basis for time across the planet, just couldn't recall ever seeing or using gmt anywhere as an everyday piece of time zone identifier. Anyway -5 is what I came up with for the eastern standard time zone in the USA. It didn't occur to me that other ...

oil in bell housing

I just solved a problem with oil filling the bell housing to a point where it got into the starter and wiped out the starter. My 450 always leaked oil from the transmission into the bell housing then a few years ago I stopped noticing the leaky trail on the ground but I still needed to keep adding o...

Drott 4 in ! cylinder substitutes?

I have 1970's 450 loader/crawler with leaking Drott 4 in 1 bucket clam cylinders. It is next to impossible to find seal kits or even separate packings. This drott is serial #977 and I think it is the earliest version of cylinder design from Drott. Short of dismantling and trying to match the seals i...
