Make sure you set the finger height on the pressure plate to the right height first before you reinstall it. (often overlooked and learned the hard way ). and I would back off the brake band some first on the top so it will make it easier to slide it over.. and by all means get a manual. You can dow...

Napa sells a kit that sniffs for exhaust gas in the cooling system.. I have used them for years and never had one lie to me... just another thought

on that same line your thinking those vacume pump system works good.If you know what i mean its a adapter that you use with a vacume pump sucks the brake fluid out using a hose and drops into a canister. Just need to keep the master filled . NO mess...

oops didnt read the part about the noise... agreed drop the pan and check the bearings ,loud hammers are never good.

Bent rod?? as in connecting rod? Were you about able to check the compression? I would want to do some serious checking before diving into a rebuild?

Success.. !!!!!! on the pressure side i am getting pressure now !!!! return line was plugged...helps to test the right side to begin with before you get stressed..lol was having a terrible day the day it happened wasnt thinking straight. Thanks again

I saw that in the book... I havent dove into it yet.. ran it long enough to test it .Just was looking at it again and found i was checking the pressure on the return side to the block so will do a little more research but even on the return side i should have had oil coming out the unconnected line....

oil pump key that would sure make sense... thanks... to the other replys.. yes good oil in it 2-53 and no pressure at the block i figured the belly pan and oil pan were coming off for sure.. Was going to check the manual and dive in,, but helpful hints always are appreciated :)

440ICD oil pressure

Bad day yesterday and it got worse when i had to start the 440 that hasnt been run for a few months and was supprised to see no oil pressure. Pulled the line off the block and no pressure there too... Before i start ripping and tearing.... anyone have any thoughts. It usually ran 40 PSI cold and 30 ...

Got it and thanks.. the best part is its a buddies project and i get to keep my hands clean... still looking for the sliding 2nd gear for my 440ICD and once i find that will be messy for sure..lol

Make sure you check the pilot bushing too. I have seen those cause that sort of problem too.It will make the input shaft hang up to the flywheel and cause the spinning of it instead of stopping as it should when you push the clutch in. Just another thing to look for but still have to pull it apart.....

Since the down pressure works it sounds to me like the pump and flow are ok??? Sounds to me like a seal on one side of the spool valve or the valve itself I had a spool valve actually break on a 440 loader i had years ago .
