MC 40C blade question
My 40C is equipped with a front blade operated by the remote cylinder on a single lifting lever mounted on the right side of the tractor. This appears to be a common arrangement as I see it all the time on various internet images and video of these tractors. Can anyone provide me with parts informat...

Farm fresh 40C from ebay
So I found this 40C 5-roller on ebay advertised as farm fresh, meaning just dug out of the farm. If the link still works there are 18 pics of it posted here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1955-JOHN-DEERE-40C-CRAWLER-TRACTOR-FARM-FRESH-FIND-NO-RESERVE-/121074811215?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3A...

Thank you all for your replies! I am figuring 5.75" Pitch with 1.5" bushings. It looks like I have an Oliver or Case track on my machine. Got any ideas on where I should look for another track and selling this one? I know I am working with MWEsales but it never hurts to look everywhere. One Miracle ...

40C wrong tracks? Sprocket pitch
So I had the idea that the track link bushing diameter affects the sprocket pitch, and making a dummy bushing will test this theory. I worked out that 2.25 in OD track bushing will make the sprocket pitch 5.976 in or 151.787 mm. That is pretty close to an exact match. I took a compass, a paper plate...

40C wrong track installed?
I have a question about the track on my 40C. This track has 30 links per side instead of 31 and has track shoes are riveted onto the track links with 4 rivets on a six hole pattern. I have been investigating putting rubber track shoes on this tractor so it can be run on the pavement and be used in p...

Yesterday I tinkered with the tractor most of the morning. And yes, I enjoyed it very much. I figured out the electrical system and determined I have a bad regulator, I fixed the seat, worked on panel and measured the track links and sprockets. I have a question about the track and will ask it in th...

I just took delivery of a JD 40C crawler s/n 65119. I looked at your site and according to your serial numbner records, this tractor was built in 1954. That is correct, right? I am looking to have rubber pads mounted on the tracks so I can use this tractor in parades. I may also want the existing tr...
