Re: drive sproket removal
kmd the outside of the sprocket teeth should run in the centre of the back roller but not so close as to bind like that. There should be enough clearance to get the sprocket moving off the dowels. Some things that might be happening - is the axle moving outboard with the sprocket? That would mean th...

Re: snap decision at JD350 wide-track at auction?
There's one around here where I'm by. I pretty sure the guy wants to sell. If anyone has an interest I can dig up his contact info. I'm pretty sure its a "B" dry-clutch model with PAT blade and canopy. He bought all new rails and final drive components and had them installed. He is posting on Kijiji...

Re: 440ic Grinding on left when turning right.. PLEASE HELP
Can you jack up the rear of the machine and loosen the LHS track right off? Try and see if there is any outward movement in the axle. If there is any that could mean axle bearings. You could also drain the oil on that final and take the pan off and see whats in there, hopefully no pieces of anything...

Re: 440IC with 602 Blade and Winch
I changed my mind and decided to keep disassembling. When I'm done I want to have everything in good working order and not have something blow up later. I'm finding it hard enough to find the time to do what I've already done so when am I going to find time to do it over? Pulled the transmission tod...

Can you rent something? Hate to see further damage. Have a look at my post and see what happens to final drive case if you keep going.

Re: 440IC with 602 Blade and Winch
I was able to get the RHS throwout bearing carrier (cam) off. All 3 balls and inserts were in place. I noted that there was a bit of wear on 2 of the inserts on the quill side. It seems that the cam must have been allowed to travel to far and allowed the ball to ride up on the quill. 2 of the insert...

Re: 440IC with 602 Blade and Winch
I was also wondering about this. The clutch housing on the LHS has a bung cover on front and back. The one on RHS only has the hole on the front of the housing. I can see the part number in the casting on the LHS housing (M3705T) but the casting number on the RHS is obscured by the transmission. The...

Re: 440IC with 602 Blade and Winch
I got sick of fencing so I decided to sneak an hour in today, which turned into two hours. I got the back skid plate off and drained the transmission. I got the winch adaptor removed so I got to look inside the rear of the transmission. Everything looks good. Not the worst oil I've seen but it was p...

Re: 440IC with 602 Blade and Winch
I got up early this morning and searched the topic on here and found a reference to the removal of the winch. I got it off! Thankfully I didn't get too rammy before doing some research. Thanks Lavoy. The outside bottom bolts between the winch and adaptor had a piece of plate welded to a bolt and it ...

Re: 440IC with 602 Blade and Winch
Does the winch just slide off the 6 bolts to the adaptor or do I have to remove it from the back of the transmission case?
