440 Oil Pressure
So, hydraulics are now restored but I noticed today the oil pressure gauge will read near zero on idle and 25+ on high rev. This was not the case ever before the machine sat for a couple of years so could the sending unit be faulty, the gauge itself or am I looking at an oil pump failure. To begin w...

Exhaust: 440 IC (Loader)
The make-shift muffler on the tractor is no longer serviceable so what are my options. Is it necessary to run a muffler or can I opt for straight pipe out of the manifold without a loss of performance or risk to the engine? Or where would I find a reasonably priced replacement. Thanks.

Hydraulic filtration
I'm speaking of a 1959 440IC (Loader) that has received a new Parker pump, Cross Valve, all new hoses and I would like to add external filtration to replace the in-tank technology. Anyone see any issues with installing a canister (25 micron) on the return line?

Hydraulic Pump
Well, the hydraulic shop evaluated the pump from my 440 loader and it's shot so I need a replacement. Of course the six spline shaft has long been replaced and the mount does not appear to accommodate modern designs. Before I go and order a new pump and have another mount machined to hold the gal on...

Please Identify
This is a hydraulic component from my 1959 JD 440IC. In addition to identifying the part, I would like to know if I can eliminate it from the system and plumb directly from the control valve to the cylinders. I have ordered a manual for the loader but I am impatient and really curious about my optio...

Hydraulics: 1959 JD 440IC (Loader)
Hello, Two years ago I began the process of addressing the failing hydraulic system on my crawler. I have had the cylinders rebuilt and now I am realizing the extensive customization of the entire system; primarily, the pump is not OEM and is mounted direct drive. My manual discusses a side mounted ...
