Thanks for the info. Too bad there isn't an inspection plate . (in repair manual) I guess I could take rear cover off pg. 90 item 32-34 and see if shaft turns.

So, item 9 on page 89 has rivets instead of bolts. What you've described is exactly what I'm experiencing. Did you put rivets back or use grade 8 bolts ?

Thanks Lavoy. I believe I'm going to do some more troubleshooting and inspecting before starting to remove motor. Everything worked well on machine until I let it freewheel backing off incline. Top of transmission should be easy to see into trans. It's like something backed off when I let it freewhe...

Is there any inspection plates/covers that can be removed to see clutch linkage ? I'd hate to pull engine and find something else wrong

Thanks Lavoy. So what I'm thinking the only way to see the internals is to remove the engine ? ...weather's turned bad here in Wv. Next opportunity I'll check that out.

The reason I say I don't have a reverser, I only use transmission shifter to to go backwards. No other lever to choose How do I get to the area to check coupler on drive shaft ? Is there enough room for the coupling to slide off splines ? The parts drawing looks to have been OVER copied, can't tell ...

I was using my 1010 to spread some gravel on a steep part of a driveway. I pushed clutch in and let it free wheel back down slope. Afterward there's no forward or backward motion.
