Re: 420b timing
Well,Lavoy was right. I followed the manual and eventually got the pump timed right. The distributor kerfluffle was solved once I pulled it and saw that the hot wire stud was way around on the back and not out front where it was supposed to be! Not sure If I did that or one of my boys "helped" me in...

Re: 420b timing
I sheared the pin that drives the distributor last year and repaired it. That's when the trouble started IIRC. I also note that looking through the manual, my distributor cap isn't in the same position as the pictures show. I could have also put the cap on "upside down" I suppose. If that's all it i...

420b timing
Is it possible to get the distributor 180 degrees out when you put it back in the engine? I ask because I think the idiot that looks back at me in the mirror might have done that.

Re: Bucket level indicator
Thanks again Gus!
Jim B, I went out and looked at the 2 op manuals I have, both are for the agriculture version. No wonder I'd never seen it! Thanks for the info, I'll see what I can do.

Bucket level indicator
First off, another big THANK YOU!!! to Gus! You were dead right on my air sucking hydraulic pump on my 1010 C/L/BH being nothing more than a clogged hydraulic filter. I'm going to order a couple more just to have on had because the filter I replaced only had 3-4 hours run time on it. Could be the sy...

Re: 1010 air leak
Gus, changed the filter. The old one only had a few hours run time on it, but so far it looks like you were right! No air leak so far. Haven't had a chance to work it, but it's better than it was for sure. Thanks!

Re: 1010 air leak
Is there an aftermarket filter for this or am I stuck going back to mother Deere? I found a reference here to a Fram CH6484 filter being a cross referenced option but no one seems to have followed up and verified that. ???

Re: 1010 air leak
Filter has maybe 2 hours run time on it. It's worth a shot though. Thanks!

Re: 1010 air leak
I'm pretty sure the leak is at the pump. Anyone ever tear into one of these?

Re: 1010 air leak
Thanks Gus. I'm in the process of changing out the suction pipe hose unions now. The tank should be dry judging by the amount of oil I got all over me, so I'll pull the filter and check the standpipe. Already found a loose suction fitting but tightening made no difference. My fear is it's a crack in...

Re: 1010 air leak
Sorry, I have a suction leak on my hydraulics. Bad enough that the pump is chattering whenever the loader or hoe is in operation.

1010 air leak
My 1010 crawler/loader/backhoe is sucking air. I found the o ring in the tank that goes on the standpipe by the filter was hard and leaking. I made a new one out 1/8" material and it seemed to solve the issue, until I got on a slight slope and then I get the air leak again. I can't tell if it's comi...

Re: 1010 steering clutch adjustment
Yes 1010 manual that refers to a unit with 2 lock nuts and a hexagon center piece IIRC. What I have is a unit with one lock nut and a spring wound centerpiece. It looks almost like some sort of automatic adjuster. I'll try putting the pic on a different thingy on the 'puter.
