Re: New project 450c

Clutch and pressure plate aren't gonna fix the howl in reverse, mine does it as well it's in the HLR.
I not quite sure I understood, did you replace the fluid in the trans and drives?

Get manuals... they will help. Sumps are common on a C version, manual will help explain.

Re: Engine clutch has oil on it

Drop the belly pan and look for the cotterpin at the bottom of the bellhousing, drain the fluid but don't refill. :D If nothing is moving you may have another problem. I've had my bellhousing get oil in it and the only time I could tell is if I were pushing really hard. The clutch would slip and the...

Re: Injection pump removal question

I used a wobble/universal joint socket and some locking extensions. I would suggest you put one of the upper bolts on and snug then remove the lower. If the uppers are off the bump will pivot and you will get knocked off the lower. You have it a TDC and the stub installed in the flywheel? for confir...

Re: How to bleed air from a 350c/ or fuel problems

If you go to Youtube and put "John deere dozer injector pump" in the search bar you will see a number of video's showing the issue and fix. Some good some not so good. Make sure you have it timed before you remove it, manual will explain. If you try to repair yourself or have someone you know try, D...

Re: '73 - 450B Crawler/Loader/Hoe Restoration

Here's link to some that have do the conversion and what they went thru. ; http://www.jdcrawlers.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=5850 The big thing is to change the pulley to get the correct belt width not necessarily the diameter. It's gotta fit a 5/8" Belt, not 1.2" belt. Sorry bout the guy @ alt...

Try here, https://www.surpluscenter.com/Hydraulic ... cu\+in/rev.

You may have come up with some adapter fittings and hoses though.

Re: '73 - 450B Crawler/Loader/Hoe Restoration

For alternators and parts I generally go here, https://alternatorparts.com/

I've gotten alternators and pulleys from him in the past. They should be able to get you going in the right direction. I have a Delco one wire alternator on my loader and 1960 Ferguson tractor.

Great Ideas, when I did my loader I used Oil-Embedded Flanged Sleeve Bearings that I got from McMaster Carr.

Re: John Deere 450

FYI The truth about 303 oil In the 1960’s, John Deere created the 303 oil that was used as an effective, high quality tractor hydraulic fluid for anti-wear on some heavy duty equipment. However, in the 1970’s the popular John Deere product was regulated and banned due a key ingredient being sperm wh...

Re: JD 350b diesel in the oil. (Old loader sat for 17 years)

My guess would be the umbrella seals on the injector pump. Just curious, when it shut down, did it blow white smoke out the exhaust? Also, remove the little rectangular window off the side of the pump via two small screws. If you see any small dark colored bits that look like mouse turds, then you'v...
