Re: 450G starting issue

Have you changed/checked the filter? Mine is between the lift pump and inlet of IP. Loosen and/or remove line feeding IP, press handle on lift pump to make sure you have a good flow of fluid. Only other thing would be that the IP pump outlet pressure is low when it gets hot which would mean the head...

Re: Fan belt on a 450()

I believe I used a 5/8 belt when I replaced my water pump and fan. Also, I put 2 additional around the jack shaft going to the pump so if I shred another belt I have another ready to go.

I could help you out but the tax on importing steel products from Canada could be a killer.
Was going to respond with something but decided against it.

Re: 350 diesel running rough and smoke

Mine exhibited the same symptoms last year, in my case it was the filter, it was clogged. I also had no power. I drained the tank and flushed it out with mineral spirits and blew out the going to the lift pump. Refilled the tank, loosened the fitting at the inlet of the injector pump and pumped leve...

Always good to have a new source and the price is certainly reasonable.

Re: 1977 JD 450c Loader has no power in reverse

Yes, 1/8" NPT. Mine was a bear to get out. Stripped the hex out, had to remove valve and drill it out and re-tap. Not my write-up. I got it from a number of posts from Roy and I've hung onto the information. Mine needed to be adjusted because I was having the same issues you are having now. Good luck.

Look at the clutch control valve, 20-7. Also here is a write up from Roy Suomi about getting the pressures and adjustments correct fo the HLR. I know it's long but it may be helpful, I know it was when I was having issues. Roy Suomi Re: JD 450 Clutch Adjustment in reply to Tweeter, 11-19-2006 16:50:...

Re: Leaky fuel injector pump

I've rebuilt my pump, mouse turds. You can remove the cover without taking the pump off. If you remove the pump you want to get all the marks lined up before doing it. Motor needs to be a TDC with pin installed in flywheel and marks on pump lined up, To see the marks inside the pump remove the timin...

Re: JD 450C radiator issues

Could the large piece of metal been a piece of plastic? When I replaced my water pump because of a bad bearing I noticed that my impeller was made of plastic. WHen the bearing went bad fan hit radiator and shroud which trashed the fan of course but it also broke off all the impeller blades. You may ...

Re: 450c exhaust manifold smoke

Mine did/does the same thing. As you have done, I've replaced some of the injector leak off lines and fittings but it took some time for the leaked fuel to get burned off. DId you replace the fittings as well? That is where most of mine was coming from. It is/was leaking at the ferrule fittings, I s...

I, generally, don't buy vehicles or machines buy their age. I prefer things pre computer/circuit boards. I try to judge things by the condition they're in. gregjo1948 Agreed. I like working on the older per computer stuff as well, to a point. My exception is vehicles with carburetors, I hate them w...
