Re: 1010/350 winch

Don, you only have to pull the small round cover at this point to look in with a flash light and see if the shaft is there.. after draining fluids of course.. all you will see is the splined stub of the power shaft poking thru the case casting looking directly at you.. it only protrudes out about 1 ...

Re: 1980 JD 350C wont move

Mark here again as I just remembered you said son in law was putting gallons of fluid in reverser.... where was it going?? it can only go a couple of places,,, out the front cover where there is a seal for the reverser input shaft-pump seal... out the back seal between the reverser and the tranny wh...

Re: 1980 JD 350C wont move

Sorry for your dilemma,,, lets take this in steps.. your question on turning tranny input shaft with reverser out,, yes you can turn the input but dozer finals will not move as you have no hydraulic pressure to the steering clutches to engage them... highly unlikely you broke any final drive,,, beca...

Re: Need help ...not a crawler but excavator

this is one of those things that upsets me about dealer ignorance or is it just dishonest... they don't seem to tell their customers until after they buy new main pumps for ungodly money... you described it perfectly.. it is your swivel joint needs an o-ring seal kit.. some mechanics call it a rotar...

Re: 350C Op Manuals

Stan, I have an OM Manual that comes with the 350C, it is OM-T62741 issue C8, it came with the dozer so it is yours, I don't know what the difference is on the issue.. I was reading it looking for a date of print or copyright date, nothing,, but in breezing thru it I came upon a section for transpor...

Re: 3315 winch

Smitty, did you get this figured out.. first thing to mind from the description of what your winch was and was not doing is this,, springs and brake band have nothing to do with the problem as you described it... they will only help when winch is slipping it's load, as not holding the logs up to the...

Re: 350B reverser

A couple of points to this conversation and try not to get off topic. Amos, all 450JD have HLR, ALL of them, the 450 and early 450B's the HLR shifter was between your legs, the later 450B's and everything after went to the battery box side HLR shifter. Stan is correct only way to tell is serial numb...

Re: JD 350 Engine

Most of the compressor motors will fit the JDdozer- loader scenario with some work,, first off those numbers you gave don't seem right.. it should be a 3-152, or 3-164, or a 3-179,, any of these motors will fit,, the D just means naturally aspirated,, if it is a 3-179DF it will fit with work,,, firs...

Re: Main Pump

77Ford, JD Parts book shows that as a shaft seal for main hydraulic pump.. depends which pump you have and which machine but it is replaceable.. I would say it is worth a try for the cost of a seal.. if that doesn't work you can always buy a pump after.. from my 350C book. ah15442 for 15gpm pump at5...

Re: 450 diesel engine no serial #

the engine plate with model and serial # should be just above the starter on the engine block.. it could be greasy and or painted over,, look carefully as they are usually still there... it is in a spot pretty well protected so it is usually not missing.. Mark

Hi Guys,, just to put some light on Bills situation,, we have been talking for several months on and off about his track problem.. at first I thought it was something simple and him being new to dozers was just not seeing it,, like track tension or broken spring or final drive bearings,, he has sent...

Re: Spherical washers for the steering clutch

Cle, I found years ago when I had this problem.. that the bushing for the rocker arm on big block chevy motors is an exact replacement fit,, and I suspect a lot of small block chevys might also work.. it is right under the locknut for the rocker arm.. Mark

Re: Help with a JD450 with motovational problems.

Cle , I have a transmission all out so I will show you the pin excactly as it sits in the dozer.. bear in mind I have removed the clutch housing or bell housing as I call it,, so it looks more exposed.. but if you have to fix it and pull the engine the bell housing remains and that makes it very dif...

Claus, it looks like you had some bearings go on the shafts and allowed enough movement to strip the gears,,, total rebuild sorry..some shafts can come out thru top and front cover,, some require removing the ring gear. Mark

Re: Help with a JD450 with motovational problems.

Hi, I see this problem a lot lately.. it is more complicated then described so far,, do you have a parts manual and or tech manual.. if you do it will be easier to describe to you what to do.. it is not purely a mechanical adjustment,, not just a matter of the clutch working or not working,,, the me...
