I know I'm on the crawler site, but you fellows have a lot of talent. A 1965 model 3020 with the 24 volt generator system. Some one has installed what looks like a Delco SI10 alt. but has a tag "24Volt". The Alt. does not have a seperate "ground" terminal and from what I have read so far is ( Neg ) ...

Today, kit # AM1149T only has the metal concave washer. I ordered back-up washer # M1865 T whick only looks like a flat...

440 transmission
Lavoy, I have the 5sp transmission on the 440, serial # 456482. (jumps out of 2nd gear) Am I reading the parts book correctly? It looks to me like earlier model gears will not work as replacements. I was wanting to replace the sliding gear and the drive gear for 2nd. Any other things to check before...

Camshaft Plug
My 420 block had the wrong plug with a lot of "glue" all around. I purchased the correct plug form Deere ($14.95) and now it leaks. I have removed the plug and was thinking about using JB Weld when I put it back in.
Please give me your ideas.

Mike, I have one that I have not started work on. I found a 440 and have put the 40 on the back burner. It is a solid machine for a good start. It runs and steers. The tranmission sounds good. It does not jump out of gear. The sheet metal is Fair(rusty), It was missing the Nose, so I used one from a...

Oil line
Twice I have had a flexable brake line act as a "one way " valve trapping the fluid - causing the brakes to drag.
Check the lines.

Rear housing oil leak.
Hey guys, I changed all the oil in the 40C and then found the 440c. So, the 40 is parked under the barn. I noticed that transmission oil is leaking between the rt. clutching housing and bull gear housing. I checked the trans. oil and it is low. Would a bad Quill Seal leak when the machine is just si...
