Re: John deere 350b only cuts one way

If you have free travel of the throwout bearing (from ALL fingers) and it still slips you have no option other than tearing it down. If so and assembly is good then suspect the pressure plate springs first.

Re: 350 Transmission Removal

I did that years ago so the memory is a bit fuzzy. I think I raised the side frames along with the transmission, then pulled it out. Had broken out the bottom, front bearing and the owner kept using it and shelled out the whole tranny and pinion. Found a whole, used unit to replace it all.

Re: 40C not turning to the left - fiber clutch thickness

If your discs are too thick (swollen) the clutch may not disengage, as you surmised. If the throwout bearing would adjust to meet the clutch fingers then it should have still disengaged assuming all fingers are adjusted (JD 7 gauge) and the brake could be the culprit. If pulling the left steering cl...

I wouldn't trust brass to have enough strength for such a crack. Have it ground and welded professionally with so much at stake.

Saw one like this once where they had assembled the clutch wrong. They didn't realize one fiber goes inside the snap ring.

Re: JD450 C In New Zealand clutch/drive issue

It appears your steering brake is way out of adjustment on that side. Brakes usually work better in reverse because of the direction the drum turns within the band. You need a manual to adjust the brakes properly. I have no experience with 450's at all so this is general based on the info you gave.

Re: 1010 steering

If it really steers then either the clutches are disengaging as they should or are slipping, which is unlikely. The adjuster should be "nearly bottomed out" with a new clutch pack. If the adjusting bolt (with the 3/4" head) is bottomed out then either the brakes are shot or you left out a part. The ...

Re: 350B Loader Control Valve Leaking

Chances are your leak is on the low pressure side. You can use hydraulic-compatible hose on that side of the control valve. There is a great temptation to use a close nipple where you have a fitting but you should use the threaded end of a pipe, cut off so that you also have some smooth pipe inside ...

Dang it! meant a chain thru idler, not sprocket. It's hell getting old.

Re: Any of you ever remove an idler ?

After collapsing the tensioner and removing the bolts put a chain thru the sprocket and use the hydraulics to extend the track and you will surely have enough room. Remember the tensioner must be collapsed to re-install.

What parts do you have left? Other than the crank most other parts are still available as "common" items, like bearings. The 1000 Tool Carrier parts list (PC296) has good detail.

Re: JD350B Brakes

The only common component that I am aware of is "load", which is doubled when running both tracks rather than one. If there is any misalignment (usually caused by a spun-out bearing) of the ring gear and pinion, for example, it is much more severe with a higher load. But please, please give a more o...

According to the parts book a crawler with serial number below 455633 has seven fiber and 6 steel, those 455633 and above have eight and eight.
