555 J.D crawler/loader buy or not buy

I have a chance to buy a 555 John Deere track loader dozer w/ ripper. The guy is asking $6900.00 obo , the undercarriage is about 40 % at best, but this is ok since I will not be putting to many hours on it, Just for use around my farm. I just sold a 450 and didn't put more than 200 hours a year on ...

I am going to take a guess, one of the pads came off the shoe. No, what happened was the main brake somehow was engaged and locked, must of hit with my foot. This is the parking brake I'm referring to. I noticed it today while checking for the problem. I released it and it now works. I'am happy it ...

450 JD ?

I have a question,\ 450 JD, I was moving dirt today and the left clutch brake stopped locking the track moving forward, however, it locks up fine in moving in reverse. Could this be an adjustment issue ? It was working ok until then. Could someone give me an opinion ? Thank you. p.s. It has power st...

I liked your post very much especially, that a guy can over think a problem
and become confused, and all the while he talks himself out of taking on
a job like this.
You make a lot of sense and this Spring I just may tackle it myself and call
on you when I get stuck. Thanks again.

Myself, i would choose the color that pleased me the best of the two. I don't know how much effort you plan in painting your machine, but remember preparation is 90% of how it,s going to look when the paint is sprayed on. A good power wash and sanding is always a good idea, followed by some quality ...

You do make a valid point, oil and grease is much cheaper than parts and labor. You must be a pretty good mechanic to tackle the job of replacing the steering clutch brakes. I have seen it done on video and to say the least it looks daunting I would like to try this myself but not sure if I could ha...

New chains have kinks.

Hello everyone I have a question concerning my 350 B I bought it from a guy who replaced the the sprockets and chains. He said it cost him $5,000.00 with labor. The little machine runs good and all gears and reverser work well, problem is he let the machine set outside after changing the sprocket an...

When you get them installed let us know how they work out for you.
Hopefully the weather will warm up to give you time to weld them on.
Good luck.

There is a site, I think it tractornet but not sure. anyway this guy shows the process from start to finish on a 350 JD, lots of pictures with commentary. I do remember it was very important to have the clutch pack in spec . It may help you a lot, and the folks there were very helpful in walking the...

I agree with wizner85, I have a JD 350 B crawler it has a new set of sprockets and chain on both sides installed by the previous owner to the tune of $5000.00 dollars, which he had done by a JD dealer. The point is I think you would be throwing your money away by putting it into your machine. If the...
