1965 350 Steering clutch problems

A buddy of mine has this machine. I've seen it in action a few times and it's a well running, operating crawler. They put new steering clutches in it a while back and even used a manual etc., but seems they must've done something wrong. Every time he goes to use it, he has to adjust The right side a...

I should also mention that we are a small scale, Eco-friendly logging company. We do select thinning and forest management. We do not clear cut or really completely clear anything. Roads will only be 6-8' wide. We only need access. There won't be any big trucks or forwarding on these trails. They ar...

Greatly appreciated.

Honest opinions and great info. Just what I was looking for. Heres where I'm at....I was able to get the 40c with a partial trade on an atv that we used getting around on site. It runs great and only real problems are it was a lil stiff steering from where it sat so long in the previous owners garag...

Average daily operating cost of 40c

So I am the owner and main operator of a small scale logging company. I bought a 53 model 40c, gas, to use daily at work. I'm just trying to get an estimate on what the cost of running this machine will be. I realize that there are a lot of variables that bear on this figure but just in a ballpark, ...

Great to hear. Seems like that'll save me some time and money in comparison to building my own rig like it from scratch. My 40c is a good candidate for this setup, it already has pto shaft and a drawbar. I'll let you know as soon as I've got the money together and we'll proceed to the next step. Tha...

That's kinda what I figure too. You never know whats really going on til ya get it apart to be sure. I'm glad to hear that on the price. I was trying to figure a lil high to be safe cuz, back to the first point, you never know til it's apart. I'm gonna focus on the 40c I already have as the top prio...

Thanks for the great info!

Greatly appreciated folks. That def has not scared me away, in fact, it's gave me the confidence to proceed. Being an ASE certified diesel tech for a while and working on so many different things at the dealership def taught me, without a manual, things can get out of hand real quick. Since then, th...

1010 steering clutch replacement

Hello crawler fans. I am new to the world of crawlers and am in need of some info. I worked as a diesel tech in a KW dealership for years so I have some mechanical experience on heavy equip. Unfortunately, nearly all of that experience was on wheeled machines, not tracked. But to the point.... I am ...

Winch

Is the winch still available? I've got a 53 model 40c and I can't find any of the gearmatic 8a's or that type so I've been thinking of trying this type of setup. Will this work on 40c? And also, what are the pros and cons of this type setup? Is it any more rough on the pto etc? New to this world so ...
