Water Pump Bolt on 430C

Any suggestions of how to get the lower right water pump bolt out on a 430C that has the Allen head rounded out? This is the tough one that sits a little behind the pulley and is awkward to extract on a good day. Thanks!

Thanks, Actually its my Dad's 620 that blew a head gasket. I've replaced several 420/430 head gaskets and it always seems like they seep a little after a year or two of use. Usually in the winter. One fella told me to dip them in oil before I applied them and I have heard of many guys using a variet...

Head gasket sealant or no sealant????

Does anyone recommend using a sealant applied to a head gasket before installing it or should it be installed dry? What is the normal practice and what sealant is is used if any?

Thanks, Vic :)

Gearmatic 8A winch for sale

I,ve had this winch sitting around taking up space and nothing to put it on. Includes winch, mounting casting, cable take-up rollers, and controller. Winch is complete but needs rebuilt. Mounting casting is excellant-no cracks I can see. Take-up rollers all turn and take grease. Controller is intern...

From what I've seen on the few I looked at, the plunger that is actuated by the hydraulic cylinder on top of the winch is what rusts out. I'm talking about the long rod that has a spring on the bottom and some kind of shoe that engages the brake bands. Are any of these parts availiable? Mine looked ...

I,ve seen many gearmatic winchs on crawlers for sale but they are missing the controller. Is it possible to operate the winch without it? The reason I ask is I seen one on E-bay recently that did not have the controller but the guy claimed that the winch worked fine. Thanks for the info. Vic.

Gearmatic winch operation

Bought a gearmatic 8A a while back and been slowly working on it. I have never operated one of these but I always thought the control lever mounted on the fender was for forward and reverse operation of the winch cable. However, it looks like the internal brake bands simply control the speed at whic...

Thanks, I'll pass that along to him. I havent had a chance to see it yet but he says his center frame tube had been broken and welded sometime ago. Do you have one for sale? I plan on giving him this web site info anyway and he can talk directly to you.

440 center frame

Hey Lavoy,
A friend of mine just got himself a 440ic winter project and is wondering if a one-piece center frame off a 420 will work in place of his broken one. His has no reverser if that makes any difference. Probably a silly question but I fiqured to ask the pros.

Let me know what parts you have and the prices. Both sides of the cylinders have seized pistons and I'll probably damaged them trying to get them out. Was pretty nasty in the control valve when I took it apart. Were is the parts book availiable? Can you still get one from paccarwinch.com?

GEARMATIC WINCH PARTS FOR MODEL 8A.

Recently picked up a gearmatic 8A and started taking the control lever assembly apart. Was wondering about part availability as I'm going to need the seals and cups in the lever assembly. Was also wondering if there are any manuals around on one of these. Thanks, Vic
