'81 450c left track won't steer

Gentlemen, any help would be great. Rather pressing issue as I was supposed to transition the dozer over to a logging lot. Any help or suggestions would be great!

Willie b thanks. I love in Amish country along the eastern shore of Lake ontario. The Amish folks out this way use all horse drawn equipment. The only engines I know of them using is for saw mills and occasionally a well pump during drought times. As for my situation, I already have a swivel hitch w...

Farm attachments for a 1981 450c

Gentleman, I've slowly gotten in to keeping animals and agriculture. I am looking to up my production for my personal needs. I have thought of getting attachments for my 530 clark bobcat, but sometimes I lean towards my 450c crawler instead. I'm thinking of brush hogs, tillers and stuff like that......

Been a long time since I signed in. Thanks for the valuable info guys. I ended up hiring a hauler. Luckily, it's only across the street from another property of mine, so in the near future gonna arrange a crew to help stop traffic and plank it across the street!!! Lol

Truck is a ford lcf... 16k gvw, 27500 total gross with tow haul. Not concerned about truck. My only concern is the 10k trailer... It is only a 2 mile haul though with no hills... Might just try loading it to see how it looks on the trailer

Thanks again guys... My pins are loose on my front end but that's what you vet with an 81 dozer that most likely has original pins. Recently logged 4 white pines for siding lumber. All ranged between 24 and 28 inches for about 30' up. Have a lead on some loving for a neighbor so just wanted to be su...

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I understand, but just for the record, I have my shifter to the left of me and it has R,N,H,and L. And I do have to clutch and come to stop to reverse. Paul caught my eye with his comment regarding the blade capabilities. Should I not be chaining and dragging my ...

Thank you very much for info. My engine temp was running hot as well with the trans temp. don't know actual temp though only green and red on both gauges. I was not high into the red but just in a little bit so I lower the idle and it stayed right around the beginning of red mark. is that okay?

looseness in front blade and pistons

Have had my '81 450c for 5 years now with putting maybe 150 hours on it. My 6-way blade has had an inch or so of play in all directions when up off the ground and moved by hand with good force. Obviously bushings and pins are worn. My down pressure is still good and maneuverability is better than de...

high temp trans fluid

1981 450c... Noticed today after about 2+ hours of running her above 1500 rpms that my trans fluid gauge was going in to the red. Is this most likely an indication of needing to replace fluid? Thanks in advance for any replies[/quote]

Thanks guys for your replies. I had her welded up for some barter work and logs are at the mill being cut. Love this forum.

Lavoy, I'm unsure of reverse vs. Reverser... Its an '81 450c... I'm not familiar with a reverser

Has anyone ever heard of the u frame for the blade breaking off entirely??? I have some trees that I need to skid out for milling and am skeptical of pulling with the front blade. Part of me says I'm still OK but would hate to break or compromise entirely
