Good morning, Thanks for all the input, very much appreciated. To make a long story short, she is at home sitting in the driveway, and it was well within the suggested parts machine price :D. It was an engineering marvel of snatch blocks, chains and truck winch and she loaded right up on the flat de...

Oh Boy! Crawler #3 ...it's alive...it's alive
Hi guys, Looking at and perhaps making an offer on a 1958 440IC tomorrow and need to know if there is anything peculiar about his model. I have two 350's so am familiar with undercarriage and what to look for, but are there any items specific to the 440IC to watch out for? It's a 1958 2 cyl gasser, ...

I just did this exact replacement on mine (1968) and used an old 10SI from an '85 Pontiac. There are 2 wire tabs on the edge of the alt. looking at the rear, the one on the right ideally goes back to the battery to sense the battery voltage but most of us just connect right to the main output lug, t...

350 loader stuck clutch freed..now it's starting to slip ARG
A few weeks ago I posted I had a stuck right clutch. I managed to free it up just by driving around the property. Worked great for a week. I had to adjust the power steering yokes as they were out of wack, then re-adjusted the clutch rod and brake. Driving it around today moving some firewood in the...

Hey, nice looking machine. Very clean. Having it all apart in a nice big shop sure makes it look easy. :D Your pins don't look that bad...about the same as mine. I'm not good enough of a machine operator yet to notice it. Looking at your pictures and I noticed you have an interesting exhaust a...

That s/n you posted is the loader s/n. The machine s/n is under the seat behind where your right foot would rest, on a plate. Then you can check in the FAQ section of this forum for the s/n date ranges. http://www.jdcrawlers.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=2410 cheers PS my throttle cable freezes u...

Just to follow up, after a few days of running it around, I found the right clutch slipping. Went thru the adjustment procedure again and found I couldn't get the fingers off of the release bearing, even with the adjustment rod off. Took a few minutes of studying it then realized one of the power st...

Well it's all back together. The machine shop did a great job on the new rod. I installed the new seals and o-rings and put it all back together in about 10 minutes. Up and running great, no leaks, no fallback. It's been holding position for an hour now. See how it does overnight. Thanks for the hel...

JD350 loader counterweights weight??
Trying to figure out if I need to upgrade my 14,000lb trailer if I am going to move my machine anywhere. Short of removing these weights and taking them to the scales... Does anyone know what these weigh? I have 3 plates sitting on an inverted plate of sorts. If I remove these, will there be any ser...

Hi Nick, I have 2 JD350s now, 1965 and 1968, and 2 service manuals, both SM-2063, and they contain pages published all the way from 1966 to 1974, which I believe takes you well into the B series. I'm relatively new at collecting JD equipment, but I'm up to 4 now. In my layman's opinion, I wou...

Thanks for all the help boys. I found a shop I had never heard of...wow! I could spend hours there. Over 10 acres of fun. They are a machinery repair shop, all sorts of heavy equipment, and several buildings that have tons of parts. The parts guy spent 15 minutes finding the seals for me, nothing is...

Hi guys, Thanks for the help. We have one hydraulic shop in the area (small rural town) and they service all the local farm and industrial machines, and they quoted me $500 for a new rod and packing. The rod is only 18" or so and 1.5" dia. Of course I could send it out of town for rebuild bu...
