Re: JD450C Transmission case leak/repair.

Thank you, gentlemen, for the quick and correct answer. After scraping more mud the seam between the clutch housing and Trans. case was revealed. I checked the trans. case parts diagram before I posted but didn't realize it was the clutch housing. Thanks also for the advice to watch for continued dr...

JD450C Transmission case leak/repair.

Found an oddity on the bottom of my transmission case that looks like an old repair. About four inches in front of the drain plug there is what looks like the ends of a cotter pin sticking out of the bottom of the case. The tines are bent outwards. It wasn't leaking until I disturbed it while cleani...

9300 Backhoe hydraulic relief valve

I have a dripping relief valve on my 9300 Backhoe. The valve is designed to dump fluid on the ground under over pressure conditions like if the return line is clogged. John Deere no longer makes a replacement. It screws into a 3/4" NPT plug. Any ideas for a replacement or retrofit?

9300 Backhoe piston rebuild

I have to replace the seals in the boom cylinder on my 9300 backhoe. It looks like I'm going to have to remove the hoe from the machine and do a bit of disassembly to remove the cylinder or the piston. Anyone with experience with this know of a shortcut?

Thanks for the input. I guess the question I really should be asking is if it makes more sense to do the whole cylinder while I'm taking it apart. The cost for parts is dramatically different but with the age of the machine (1983), will the piston seals fail? The machine has not been overused for mo...

Cylinder leak repairs

I have a leak at the wiper seal on a couple of cylinders on my 9300 backhoe. There doesn't seem to be any issues with the internal seals as the power and hold on those cylinders is fine. Should I rebuild the entire cylinder or can I replace the wipe seal, wear ring and packing on the rod end of the ...

Thanks for the suggestion. If that's the problem would the forward clutches still be partially engaged in neutral? That is not happening as I can sit in neutral without any travel.

450C reverse gear problem

I bought a 1983 450C loader with 9300 Backhoe. Been using it for the last few months around my property without any issues. The last couple times I used it, it dogs out in reverse almost to the point of stalling. Forward travel works fine. Transmission fluid level is fine. This is happening even on ...
