The flat side of the shift lever faces away from the solenoid if that make sense to you.(Delco used a few diiferent styles of shift levers). If you're are referring to the shift lever(forked lever with plunger attached)it will go in either way with the fork in the back part of the drive assm and the shift pin(bolt) replaced. Hope this helps Jason

Not sure of the NAPA # but here are some of the OEM#.1118381, 1118779, 1118977, 1118979, 1118986, 1118987, 1118993, 1118997, 1118999, 1119191, 1119576, 1119579, D646 Most of the Generator regulators produced today can be polarized either NEG or POS Grd. Hope this helps Jason
