Re: JD 450 Hydraulic Filter

Thanks for the info. I keep forgetting about Nortrax. I have purchased from them in the past. The oil level is well above the sight glass. Prior to working on the starter, the hydraulics worked fine.

JD 450 Hydraulic Filter

I am having hydraulic problems. I replaced the starter on the machine. In doing so I had the bucket propped in it 's highest position. After completion the hydraulics are stuttering upon activation. I cycled all the pistons a few times thinking there might be air pockets, but it didn't help. I then ...

Got the 4 lines off. Took one over to JD Dealer to get some info. NPT 3/4 " male end with a female swivel on the other end. Didn't have female end in stock. Quoted me $30.00 for new 30" hose. Heard of another place that can make up new steel lines. I plan to check them out on Monday. Now knowing wha...

I haven't pulled the line yet. The location would make me think corrosion has settled in. The area was wet. The plywood that someone had placed under the battery was pretty rotten. The four lines were located under the soggy plywood. My next task is to get the lines out and check them over. Replacin...

Hydraulic lines.

I have 4 metal lines going under battery box and seat of my 450 crawler loader. One has sprung a leak. I would like to know what type fittings are on these lines. They look all the same. Two have male on one end and swivel female on the other. The other two have male on both ends. Figure it would be...

Success :D . I used my 4 1/2" grinder with 1/16" cut wheel to cut a slot in wear strip on top of track rail. It didn't go deep enough. I bought a 7" grinder to finish the job. Rigged a steel strap around idler carriage and hooked to bucket tooth. Applied tension. After some use of porta power and so...

Thanks for all the tips. I went looking for my pressure washer. That sounds like a pretty safe way to drive the rust out. Found the washer , but missing an important connector to the pressure hose. Well, I will borrow one and get at it tomorrow or the next day.

I think it all goes back to the history of this particular machine. I purchased it in western New Hampshire. I had it shipped to eastern Maine. The previous owner told me that the left side track adjuster was bad. The track had some slack . but it was usable. I removed some rocks and stumps with the...

Track idler assembly rusted to rail.

I am the owner of a 450 crawler loader backhoe. I removed backhoe and installed counterweight. I used for some land clearing. Has had a non-adjustable left side track. It became loose enough to come off twice in one day. I decided I had to remedy the situation. Upon close inspection (after numerous ...

Ignition switch or what?

JD 450 no start. Thinking there is a bad connection somewhere, I started checking connections with my trusty digital volt meter. 12.60 volts at starter battery connection with key off. 0.32 volts at starter battery connection with key on. What am I missing?

Thanks for the information. That thread you linked will be very helpful when I do the clutch rebuild. I have a few rocks and stumps to dig before that happens.

update on problem steering

Removed access covers to both steering boxes. Left side appears dry as a bone. Right side had moisture. Drained about a gallon or so of water from drain plug. Throw out bearings are moving the same on both sides.
