1010 question

The manual for our 64 1010 calls for 5w 30 oil for the hydraulics. I was wondering if anyone has used the regular hydraulic fluid? The reason I ask is that we are wanting to put some quick connects for an implement or two on the back, what I am wondering though is that the implements run off the new...

I ordered the aftermarket gauges on ebay that are from India. All seem to work ok but Im having trouble with the fuel gauge. Im guessing that the tank sender needs to match the new gauge am I correct? has anyone ordered these off ebaybefore? If so, do you know the name of the specific manufacturer a...

Ok, there is a plug thats about 1.25 inches in diameter just below the distributor. Is there a drive that goes in that location to hook the tach cable to? Can a guy still buy those?

1964 1010

I'm working on a nice little 64 JD 1010, I have replaced every piece of rubber on the little guy, including new hydraulic lines throughout. I have also replaced all of the old cracked/crusty wiring. My question and I know it might be a dumb one but for the life of me I cant find where the tachometer...

Finished and thanks!

Just an update. The 450E is back in the dirt and running like new. No accessive heat in the trans and shifting like it was just pulled from the asssembly line. Thanks again for all your help. I just pulled a 64 1010 in the shop that I am replacing all the hydraulic hoses on and giving it a tune up. ...

Pulling the steering clutches

My manuals (I have two) says after pulling drive sprocket and tracks, that you pull the cover off above the final. I have done so, made sure to keep the shims with it too. It then says to pull the plug above the plate that I just removed and rotate clutch pack until seeing a set screw and to back of...

yes, from what I gather is the fluid is leaking through the seals or out of the seals (in the steering clutch itself) into the trans without making it's way around and going through the trans. cooler. Which in return is causing it to overheat and then when the fluid gets hot it no longer holds the c...
