I wonder if the old motor can be saved? Although I have never used them, there is a Block and Head welder on Lenox Avenue that might give the old engine a chance. While it is down, and your looking, it might not hurt to give them or their competition a call. In todays throw away society, that is a d...

My favorite saying is just that... Good help is hard to find! David from jax My JD2555 tractor has needed two parts since I purchased it last year. Both parts have come in wrong, or unusable. The funny one is the differential dipstick, which I lost while doing some rough bush hogging. The new one, w...

I will have to keep them in mind for any engine machine work that needs to be done. Don't you hate having to work on that, after just having bought it, and not getting enough seat time before the engine needs rebuilding? That is what steered me away from buying the one in Daytona. I was afraid I wou...

Wilson and Jammes

I for the life of me can't picture a machine shop anywhere near that location, except for the guy I bought my Bridgeport and Southbend from, and he is not taking on customers.
What is the name of the shop?

If your talking about using the JD dealership in Jax, I can tell you that they can't get parts right for my JD2555, much less a dozer!! Good luck with it, and let me know if you decide to work on it yourself. I might want to get my hands dirty if your not too far out in the woods. David from jax

Doesn't look like I am going to need to worry about it. The pictures of the 450's tracks and pins pretty much told the story when I showed a friend who knew tracks. I passed on it, despite having work for it. I just don't need anything else to work on untill I get that property in better shape. Davi...

If you find one in the south, around Jacksonville, Fl and shipping is a problem, let me know. I try to come out to Arkansas as often as I can to see my Dad. He lives in SW Arkansas, but that is just a skip and a jump from you.

Thanks Digitup, Basically what you have explained to me, and from what little I can tell, the pins should outlast the time frame needed by me to warrant the purchase of this machine. I guess-ta-mated I could do a break even if I could get 100 hours out of the machine without any major problems. Afte...

My Miller 330 A/BP is one of the oldies, but goodies. Draws 105 amps at max draw on 220 household current. It will allow you to weld most anything that doesn't get nailed down. Works especially well on 5/8" plate aluminum, and steel doesn't even get it warmed up. I paid a whopping $237 for it, but h...

Where to look for cracks and other expensive mistakes?

Well, you guys said you didn't mind questions from newbies... I am probably going to go look at a 450 sometime in the next 36 hours. The tracks are worn and the pins need rotating. I am wondering where I should look for cracks and other worn things. The oil and fuel filters were recently changed, so...
