Re: 450c hlr checks

I haven't noticed any bubbling like you are talking about with mine. I will be taking it out to the ranch with in the next month and I left the pressure gouge in it to watch the pressures. Hopefully I can determine the problem at that point.

Re: 450c hlr checks

Thanks for the reply. I figured there had to be a way. It's nothing other than an automatic transmission using bigger nuts and bolts. I've been in the automotive field for fifty years and play with bigger toys when I can or need to. Thanks again. Will let you know when I get into that project.

450c hlr checks

I have a 450ca. High range slips. went though the clutch adjustments. high range pressure is very low 55-60 psi. low range is good and reverse is a little lower than low range pressure but moves strong. The pressure readings for high being that low, problem looks to be in the clutch pack. With all t...

drive shaft in steering clutch and brake assembly 450ca

Finally got the final drive pinion gear back in. Ended up having to pull top cover off and pick up the brake band and drum to get back in place. Not near as easy as it sounds because the unit has the rear frame work for rippers and backhoe. Thanks for the suggestions and reading about the brake reas...

drive shaft in steering clutch and brake assembly 450ca

I am having a problem with getting the final drive pinion gear back in. Inner bearing doesn't want to slide on pinion gear because the splines on the inner drum on steering clutches does not want to line up. is there any way to get it all to line up without pulling the cover off the steering clutche...

Re: drive shaft in steering clutch and brake assembly 450ca

Feels like the drive shaft has gone all the way back in but I will have to pull the hub for the steering clutches out to get the set screw to set in the pinion gear correctly. Just looks like about 1/2 inch maybe to get in place. So far I am getting ALL my credits at Hard Knock U, and come out a Hon...

Re: drive shaft in steering clutch and brake assembly 450ca

The inner drive shaft still needs to go back in another 1.5-2.0 inches to get in far enough to tighten set screw of steering clutch housing to pinion gear. can't seem to push axle shaft in any more or rotate to mesh into any splines. Has anyone run into this before. Any help greatly appreciated.

drive shaft in steering clutch and brake assembly 450ca

I had to pull the left final drive off to drill and replace two broken bolts. When I pulled the pinion gear out the inner drive shaft came out also, not completely but most of the way out. I was able to get back in most of the way but not all the way in. Looking at the parts and service manual it sh...

Re: '89 ish JD 450G steering levers stuck together

Had that problem with my 450c and under the seat where all the levers come together it was rusted together causing them to move all at once. Penetrating oil and had to pull some apart to get free from each other.

Re: 450c trans problem

Yes I do have service and parts manuals. It has been awhile since I checked and adjusted pressures. High has never been real strong ( I've owned about 10 y rs) and I don't sue very much so I have been good with just having low . It will be several weeks or a month before I can get time to recheck pr...

Re: 450c trans problem

Yes I did clean the filter screen in bottom, twice. Some debris but not what I would be concerned with. I have no been into the trans so I didn't know if anyone has had trouble with pickup tubes maybe sucking air when dipstick shows full like when the level is low. This machine sat for many years be...

450c trans problem

I am having a problem losing pull when going uphill (falls out of gear) in low range unless the trans is over the full mark on dipstick. High range feels like it goes into gear but is slipping. Has anyone had problems with pickup tube in trans for the pump. Trans fluid, filter has been cleaned twice...

450c track adjuster

Back on Oct 20 2016 I posted how much fun I had replacing the right side adjuster that I was going to give it some time before I would do the left side. Well that time has come and it is amazing how fast your memory comes back when you have done one before. This one went much easier when doing it th...

hydraulic leak.

I was working my model 93 back hoe on my 450c this weekend and heard a pop noise and have fluid running out of the grill and frt nose piece. Had no tools and was to hot to work in the sun, so I went home. Will head back to the ranch this coming weekend to check what problem could be. Any suggestions...

adjuster

I will post pics. had to cut the adjuster off the tube. I notched the tube to get into the spring area. I torched a hole in the bottom part of the tube and used a come along to hold pressure . I cut a slot in the tube as far as i could used a zipgun (air hammer) with a panel cutterto cut a slot, the...
