Hi Stan, since doing that I have spark now BUT it still won't run. Turns over great & will continue to turn over till the battery runs down. It has done this from the beginning of my ignition problem. Just wont run. I will take the carb apart "again" tho I don't think that is what it is. I am just a...

Prestolite distributor problem

I am the one who has been having the "Ignition, NO spark issue" in a previous thread. I have a gas 1964 2010 with a prestolite distributor (part # IBT4101). The insulator (part #T 16587 T) must have been replaced at some point with something that looked similar to JB Weld that just disintegrated whe...

Yup, that is the part # s they sold me. The new rotor does not fit snuggly like the old one did and the old rotor fits snug to the new cap. ??? Wonder if the wrong rotor was put in the box. I did make "another" 2 hr round trip to town & bought a new rotor & cap at Car quest as NAPA did not have one ...

Reason for replacing old rotor & cap they were heavily marked. I have purchased a rotor from NAPA & one from Car Quest both are NOT tight fitting like the old rotor & have marked the new dist. cap. and I haven't even got the thing running yet, it only turns over. Anyone else had this problem with re...

The coil says on it "external resistor needed". I can not find a resistor on the crawler???? Stan, ]Next st...

YOU need to see how yours is hooked-up you can NOT just change it back and forth ....FIRST do you still have a generator? or has it been upgraded to an alternator? IF you have an alternator you will have (ALMOST GUARANTEED) a negative system ........ IF you have NEG. ground then you hook power to t...

Will someone please explain in simple terms what is a "positive ground"

And how to properly hook up the coil, as I think the previous owner had it wired opposite as shown in the manual. It ran that way for the 8 months I have owned it. BUT now no spark.

OK I have cleaned points, checked open points with volt meter & get 12 volts with switch on. Still no spark. Stan, I read many of your post, you are so knowledgeable! I copy & print them & put them in my owners manual in the appropriate chapter. I also have jrichard, Tigerhaze, Lavoy & others in my ...

Hi Stan, "Also, you do have this hooked up positive ground, right? If it is negative ground there will be a weaker spark from the coil than with it positive ground." How do I get a positive ground? I have a wire from the switch to the positive side of the coil ,then the negative side of the coil goe...

When I try to start it the motor turns over and I have power going to the coil, but no spark beyond that. IF it was my switch would it be turning over & trying to start? Why don't I have spark past the coil?
