Thanks for the info. They're leaking is the main reason, and to hopefully make it easier to steer. It's got newer steering clutches in it. We just had the motor rebuilt top to bottom, and are trying to fix some things as we go. Already rebuilt the alternator, new water pump, re-cored the radiator an...

Straight 450 loader steering

What sort of oil does he power assist system for the steering use? Also, where could I get rebuild kits for those cylinders under the seat?

I don't think its possible to get the hard line out without serious disassembly. I did what seems to be most common and cut it out of the way, and replaced it with a hose.

I am glad I was digging through the recent threads. I just finished a road job for a friend, and noticed a hydro leak in the same location as mentioned here. I know now what to look at first, probably saving me lots of time. Love this forum! really helps to keep the old girl going. I used the hydra...

Re: 450 Loader Engine Rebuild

Thought the 450 just needed a head gasket. Got into the engine and its shot. So it looks like an engine rebuild is in store. Wondering where a good place to buy a full rebuild kit is? Dealer wants about $2000 just for the parts. How do I determine which engine I have? It is a 1969 450 loader Would ...

Been there, done that, meaning having to make a choice. Getting someone's actual experience to consider is very useful. Maybe at some point in time it may make sense to spring for the better undercarriage, but knowing that you can expect yours to hang together for your needs is reassuring. That sai...

That machine is used about 100 hrs a year.

That's what I was hoping to hear from someone. This thing doesn't get used enough to justify dropping 3-4k on it

Just out of curiosity, what would a set of chains run for a 450?

Thanks for all of the input. I think, for now, ill leave it alone. I haven't had any track jumping issues (yet). At the rate I use it, it may be a few years or more before it really becomes an issue. The machine is basically a toy, not a money maker. That makes it difficult to justify, especially to...

The machine probably doesn't see 100hrs a year. I'll probably take a link out and roll with it til something gives
