Well it sounds like the experts here think the sleeves need to come out for further investigation. Although I saw no visible sign of leak with the coolant system pressurized.... I will yank the sleeves tonight and let you know what I see. Thank you all!

Engine was rebuilt just befor I purchased it. I was told the head was also rebuilt. Maybe 3 to 4 years ago when the motor was gone through. If needed I will pull the sleeves to inspect but can they be reused? Is my hope of a simple head gasket replacement a poor guess as to repairing this? The machi...

Need help

My jd 350 straight diesel is getting coolant into the oil. I pressurized the radiator and took the oil pan off and see no air or water leaking from the piston sleeves. Took the head off and the gasket and surfaces look good. So I am unsure how the water was getting in there. Engine ran fine even wit...

I'm curious how you changed the pinion shift seal from the carrier side. I don't know how to access this seal. Does the clutch housing need to be separated from. The ring gear housing?

I found sometimes I may have somehow disconnected the backhoe connection to on to the hydraulic system and when the 1.25" hoses in the rear are not connected the machine struggles with power. The fluid needs to be able to flow.

The shop is heated but I noticed the oil before we brought it in. It seams to spit fluid out the relief every time I use the bucket. Any direction. I kind of was hoping somebody was gonna say this is a sign of a dirty hydraulic filter in the tank. I haven't pulled the top plate off yet to inspect.

hydraulic oil preasur relief valve

I have my 350 straight crawler loader in the shop changing the rear cross bar so now is the time to fix anything and everything. I have noticed a lot of hydraulic oil coming from the top of the hydraulic tank. It appears to be coming out of what I think is a pressure relive valve mounted to the top ...

Thanks for the response tigerhaze. Today I took the replacement crossbar off my parts machine. That already had the undercarriage removed. This is gonna be chore on a machine that still has the undercarriage attached.

350 straight broken crossbar

I have a 350 straight with a 4 in one drott bucket. The crawler loader had a regular bucket and I found a 4 in 1 for $300. A steal if you ask me. Anyway yesterday I was using the machine loading logs into my dump trailer. All of a sudden something didn't feel right. What I found was the rear cross b...
