I found a big ugly tree on my property then put it in gear as you said and headed for the tree.As i hit the tree in low gear I felt something move and realized that it was my body flying thru the air up into the branches. I have the same problem with my 440 crawler. Mine were frozen together so I used wd40 and another similar penetrating oil, then I used a hammer and steel chisel and separated the two pieces that were on the same shaft. I took the top off of the injectors and started the engine and oil came shooting out of one corner and it was a lot of oil in a second or two. seemed like it was way way way too much. Would that be an injector?

injector

Injector problems and repair I took the hood off the injectors and started the engine and the oil shot into the air about 12 inches. is that a reason that oil is coming out of muffler?

with the crawler in gear as you asked then pulling back on both hand brakes the crawler locks the right brake and it turns to the right and the left doesn't do a thing .

brake system repair on a 440 diesel john deere crawler

the left brake will not engage to cause the tractor to turn in the direction I want it to go Do I need to get a new brake band or does most likely need an adjustment. While I'm on the subject do I need to drop the tract to replace any brake repair>

By the way,the diesel is a Detroit. which John Deere used when building the crawlers. Mine was built in 1960 Bob

I have a 440 John Deere crawler and it has started to throw out oil so that it comes out of the muffler. It is black even though the engine and diesel oil are nice and clean.
