FYI, I would highly recommend making sure you get the "chocolate milk" out of your engine, refill with clean oil, and not run anymore until you can fix it. I'm sure that you awar of that, but even not running it but letting a small amount of water sit in the oil can end up ruining a connecting rod b...

Hi, For class 8 truck air brakes with removing the anchor pin on S cam style brakes a tool company (I believe was OTC) made a C clamp type tool to push out the anchor pin. The base of the C clamp had an opening where it would let the anchor pin come out and allowed the use of an air impact wrench o...

I thought I would throw in my $0.02, based on my limited experience with my 2010 loader. I purchased the crawler knowing that I had a significant amount of undercarriage wear- I am under some time and short-term budget constraints which made it harder to wait for the right machine to come along. Any...

I agree with the others about renting a machine for bigger work (and especially for large tree removal) and saving the 1010 for smaller jobs. I actually did that for my current grading project (building my residence in the timber). I rented a CAT 939HST to do the larger-scale earthmoving and large t...

Thanks Lavoy-

I do have the HLR transmission so that confirms it. It's also probably why I don't have the serial number plate; didn't you tell us at one point that the early 2010s had the S/N plate on the engine block?

2010C Loader Original Paint Scheme

Hi- I saw the post about the 420C, and it got me to thinking about the paint scheme for my 2010C loader. I have read the information on the "Johnny Popper" site about the 2010 crawlers, and it said that the ag and industrial crawlers were identical except for the serial number tag and paint scheme. ...

Weight of 2010 Sprockets and Front Idlers

Hi-

Does anyone have a rough idea of how much a 2010 sprocket and a front idler weigh (for shipping purposes)? I have never had mine off so I don't really know.

Thanks.

Another 2010 Crawler Likely Destined for the Scrap Heap

I just noticed on E-Bay that there is another complete 2010 crawler loader up for sale as a parts machine, and will be scrapped if not purchased. This is the second or third 2010 crawler I have seen on there in the last 6 months that is destined for the scrap yard. I have thought about the last two ...

I had Struck mail me some of their brochures and price lists before I bought my 2010. They have an am amazing number of attachments for them, but seem like they are too small to do any real work for their price (relative to a skidloader).

That's a pretty common tactic on E-Bay- have some friends bid up on it for you to get someone not invloved in the collusion to bid above the reserve.

Hey DozerDave (or whoever else wants to comment): I was doing some grading work on a slightly inclined slope and had the right track pop off the front idler when I had to turn suddenly. I guess this is not a big suprise for me since I knew the undercarriage is worn and have had track try to ...

It doesn't explain why the early diesels were also positive ground, although I would guess at that point it is for consistency and tradition. :)

Tim- I've always been hesitant to attach engine hoist chains to anything other than hardened bolts. I haven't pulled one of these engines so can't give you any specific help, but on truck and car engines I have either used intake manifold molts or head bolts. My Chevy engines actually have lifting b...

Thanks for the reply guys. I am still formulating what I want out of a shop, but I definitely want to factor in the ability to work on heavier equipment like a crawler. I think I will put in a 5" reinforced slab at least, and may think about putting in some sort of steel plate or edging. I also thou...
